Mr. Balli questioned if the signage will be the entire length of the wall. The.applicant responded
yes. Mr. Lightfoot commented that the flat sign complies with the Land Development Code and
the black background will be another application.
Mrs. Cabrera-Hernandez replied that the exterior upgrade will be handled by a different contractor.
Mr. Jude recommended that the exterior be colored black when it comes back to the Board.
Mr. Balli questioned if the last bay of the building is a separate store and should the last.bay be
colored black. Mrs. Cabrera-Hernandez replied yes and will be considered part of the exterior
renovation. Mrs. Mark commented that the-Board is reviewing the signage for the building, not the
exterior renovation.
Mrs. Mark questioned if the hanging sign will be composed of LED lights. Mr. Balli responded
that there is a power source next to the signage. Mrs. Mark recommended that the LED lighting
does not include any visible electrical connection. Mr. Balli commented that the wiring could be
placed inside the tubing so that it is not visible.
Mr. Chandler questioned if the owner agrees with the Board on making the signage smaller. The
applicant responded that the owner is not present and would not know his-response.
Mr. Chandler opened for Public Hearing.

Mr. Chandler closed the Public Hearing.
Motion: Mrs. Mark moved to approve the application with the condition that signage return to
the Board if the elevation is different from what was provided as reference and if the electric
wiring of the hanging sign is visible. Also, the size of the hanging sign is reduced so that it

Mrs. Mark questioned if Staff had a copy of the revised landscape plan. Mr. Lightfoot responded
that it is on file.
Mr. Chandler questioned if the applicant needed to add just three trees. Mr. Lightfoot replied that
the applicant could add the three or replace the current trees.

Mr. Chandler questioned if the purpose of the trees was to block the view of neighboring
properties. Mr. Lightfoot responded by reading the section of the LDC in regards to Landscape
requirements. _
Mr. Chandler questioned if the applicant was going to remove the trees. The applicant responded
that he would rather replant the trees.
Mrs. Mark commented that the plans show that the view is blocked in order to provide privacy
for the neighboring property. By substituting, the trees with 18' high palms the neighborhood
privacy is not resolved.
Mrs. Cabrera-Hernandez commented in order to be consistent the applicant would have to plant
Gumbo Limbo trees and with staff's condition of three trees 18' high.
Mr. Chandler commented that there are Gumbo Limbo plants and where would the applicant like
them to go. Mr. Chandler questioned if the palms would be replaced by Gumbo Limbo or re-
located. The applicant responded replace and keep them in the same place.
Mrs. Mark questioned if the Gumbo Limbos would be placed for privacy purposes. The applicant
responded that the property owners to the west can not see the property so it is not an issue of
privacy.
Mrs. Cabrera-Hernandez commented that the addition that came before the Board indicates that
there is a hedge adjacent to the wall of the Gumbo Limbo, which is consistent with the permit
set.
Mr.-Chandler opened for Public Hearing.

Mr. Chandler closed the Public Hearing.
Motion: Mr. Chandler moved to approve the application with the change that the three 12 foot
tall Palms that are against the side two-story addition be replaced with 18' Gumbo Limbo trees,
which were approved on sheet L-1 in the permit set and any other changes are also approved.
