December 6, 2017 Managers Report The League of American Bi~yclists has designated City of South Miami as a Bicycle Friendly Community at the Bronze level. This decision involved careful review of our application and supplemental materials, as well as consultation with local cyclists and bike advocates. This award is presented only to communities with strong commitments to bicycling. We are very proud of this accomplishment. The League of American Bicyclists made the official awards announcement on Thursday, November 30, through the distribution of a national press release and online. They asked us to keep the news of our award private until then so that they could have a more effective and impacting message on November 30. The Bronze designation is valid for four years and will be up for renewal in the summer of 2021. Our ofo bikes have been relatively successful. In the period from November 20 to December 4 they have had 202 rides. Since we launched the service, there have been 912 rides and we have 449 total users. We are continuing to work with the company on the removal of bikes in areas not intended for bike storage. The unintended storage locations have been appreciated by some and· reviled by others.
