SUBJECT: A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to expend an amount not to
exceed $150,000 for Florida Power and Light to cover the electrical invoicing
for street lighting, during the FY 201712018.
BACKGROUND: The City Charter requires that all cont~acts for goods and services in excess
of $5,000 shall be approved by the City Commission.

Light for the procurement of street lighting services for the fiscal year
2017/2018.

7 WHEREAS, the City Charter requires that all contracts for goods and services in excess of
8 $5,000 shall be approved by the City Commission; and

10 WHEREAS, the City forecasts the expenditure up to $150,000 to Florida Power and Light
11 for the procurement of street lighting services for the fiscal year 2017/2018; and
12
13 WHEREAS, the expenditure shall be charged to Public Works Streets and Landscaping -
14 Electricity 001.1730.541.4650, for $150,000 which has an account balance of $150,000 before
15 this req uest.

17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
18 OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:

20 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to expend an amount not to exceed $150,000
21 for Florida Power and Light to cover the electrical invoicing for usage of street lighting for the
22 fiscal year 2017/2018, charged to account number 001.1730.541.4650 Electricity -Street Lights
23 with a current balance of $150,000.

25 Section 2. Severability. If any section, clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is
26 for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, this holding
27 shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.

Section 3. Effective Date: This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
