A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to permit and to waive rental fees associated
with Orchid Mania of South Florida's 20th annual 'Orchids in the Park' fundraiser to be
held at Dante Fascell Park on Saturday, May 26th and Sunday, May 27th, 2018.
WHEREAS, OrchidMania of South Florida (lithe applicant"), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit
organization, has submitted a Rental Application to hold its annual 'Orchids in the Park'
fundraiser on Saturday, May 26th and Sunday May 27 th, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at
Dante Fascell Park; and .
WHEREAS, the applicant will sell orchid plants and donate all proceeds to Project Cradle,
a program at the University of Miami leonard Miller School of Medicine Department of Infectious
Disease and Immunology that provides assistance for children and young adults with HIV/AIDS;
and
WHEREAS, the applicant is requesting a one-hundred percent (100%) fee waiver in the
amount of $520, which includes the cost of open green space at the pavilion rental rate of $30
per hour X 7 hours X 2 days ($420) and one-time refundable security deposit ($100).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to permit OrchidMania of South Florida
to host its 20th Annual 'Orchids in the Park' fundraiser to be held at Dante Fascell Park on
Saturday, May 26th and Sunday, May 27 th , 2018.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to waive one-hundred percent (100%)
of the not-for-profit fee and refundable security deposit in the amount of $520
Section 2. Upon approval of this event the applicant must provide the City with the
required Certificate of liability Insurance that complies with the City's standard insurance
requirements, including naming the City of South Miami as an additional insured prior to the
event.
Section 3. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for any reason
held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect
the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.
Section 4. Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption by vote of the City Commission.

for-profit organization, has requested to hold its 20th annual fundraising
event at Dante Fascell Park on Saturday, May 26th and Sunday, May 27th,
2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The applicant will sell orchids and donate all proceeds to Project Cradle, a
program at the University of Miami Leonard Miller School of Medicine
Department of Infectious Disease and Immunology. This program provides
assistance to children and young adults living with HIV / AIDS.

First and foremost, congratulations on your winning the elections.
Greetings from the OrchidMania South Florida volunteers, and the children that benefit from our work.
By means of this email, I'm requesting that you again please sponsor our Annual Orchids in the Park fundraiser at Dante Fascell Park this coming May
26th and 2Th, so the fees can be waived. We are a very small organization and lack the money to cover them. The needs of these families continue to
grow, and we need every penny raised, to help them.
As I mentioned in my email last year, we are an all-volunteer registered 501 c3 organization, and don't get compensated in any way for the work we do.
All the funds raised are used to benefit children with HIV/AIDS here in Miami-Dade County, at Project Cradle a program at the University of Miami Miller
School of Medicine Department of Pediatric Infectious Disease and Immunology. HIVlAID5 continues to be a problem, and all we are trying to do is
provide much needed help to these families affected and infected.
The Parks and Recreations Department, can provide the details of previous years events and the fact that for the past 19 years, we've held the event at
said park and have never caused any problem, inconvenience, or loss of revenue to the City of So. Miami.
I am begging you to please help us continue with our mission to help provide for those that needed most. I provided the tax-exempt documentation last
year, but if you needed again, I will gladly get it to you as soon as possible. If you need any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me
