Re: Comm. Meeting 2/6/96
Building Maintenance
Supervisor
This resolution approves funding the position of Building
Maintenance Supervisor in the 1995 -96 budget year. The position
class is 32 -6 of AFSCME Bargaining Unit Pay Range. This position
would be within the Public Works Department, with funding from
the City's Infrastructures Improvement fund.
As part of

of these projects has been the Sylva Martin
The City has no one currently on staff who
can perform the required building maintenance services we
require. Consequently, we have contracted for these repairs.
Steve Phillips is one of the contractors we have contracted with
for these projects, and he has performed at an outstanding level.
However, it is not cost effective to retain services of this
nature on a contract basis. Mr. Phillips has demonstrated the
quality of his work, his efficiency, and his problem - solving
skills in relation to the difficult tasks we have asked him to
perform. If the Commission approves funding this position, I
will place Mr. Phillips in this position.
This addition to our staff will be a positive step in providing
much - needed and long - neglected facilities maintenance and
improvements.
I recommend approval.
