Board of County Commissioners (BCe) approved the FY 2017 Action Plan Funding Recommendations, which approved our application for R-762-17 our Senior Meals Program Public Service from CDBG funds in the amount of $25,215. Congratulations are in order for Lieutenant Jesus Aguiar for completing the Southern Police Institutes' 78 th Command Officers Development Course. Taking this multi week program for command level Officers, required Lt. Aguiar to spread his duties every two weeks between his responsibilities here at the City and then two weeks working through this strenuous program at the college. Not only did he complete this program of instruction that required numerous reports and joint projects all dealing with law enforcement topics, but Lt. Aguiar completed the program with the second highest grade point average in his class. Congratulations to Lt. Aguiar for all the hard work and for making our Police Department look good! The New fence installation at Dante Fascell Park is in progress. It is mostly complete except for along Red Rd as we needed to remove some of the strangler figs along its route. The new shuttle service is ready for commencement. We need to determine a date for a ribbon cutting ceremony. Staff has identified Monday the t h of August at 11 am at City Hall but this date is flexible to ensure the participation of the full City Commission.
