1I 1 RESOLUTION NO. ___ _ 2 3 A Resolution acknowledging Mayor Stoddard's appointment of Aracely Alicea as his 4 representative to serve on the Green Task Force for a two-year term ending July 31, 5 2019. 6 7 WHEREAS, Article II, Section 8, Sub-section A of the City Charter provides that: 8 9 * * * When a Board or Committee is comprised of five members, each City 10 Commissioner shall appoint one person to serve as a representative on the Board 11 or Committee. When there are more than five (5) members on a Board or 12 Committee, each City Commissioner shall appoint one person to serve as a 13 representative on the Board or Committee, and all members of such Board or 14 Committee in excess of five (5) shall be appointed by three (3) affirmative votes 15 of the City Commission based on recommendations submitted by any City 16 Commissioner. When a Board or Committee has less than five (5) members, then 17 the selection of all members shall be by three (3) affirmative votes of the City 18 Commission from recommendations submitted by any City Commissioner. 19 (Amended 2-09-10) 20 21 WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to acknowledge the appointment of Ms. Aracely Alicea, 22 a resident of the City of South Miami, to serve for a two-year term on the Green Task Force 23 Appointment shall expire July 31, 2019 or unless earlier removed; and 24 25 WHEREAS, commencing with appointments made after January 1, 2009, Sec. 2-22 "Term 26 Limits" of the Code of Ordinances provides that, appointees are limited to two (2) consecutive two- 27 year terms of membership on a specific commission, board, or committee. After serving a 28 maximum of two (2) consecutive year terms, an appointee shall not be reappointed to the same 29 commission, board or committee unless at least one year has elapsed between the term limited 30 position and the effective date of commencement of the proposed appointment for a new term; 31 and 32 33 WHEREAS, Sec. 2-22 ({Term Limits" of the Code of Ordinances, as amended by Ordinance No. 06- 34 14-2184, dated April 15, 2014, provides that the appointer, or his or her successor in office, may extend 35 the term limits of his or her appointment with the advice and consent of a majority of the City 36 Commission; and 37 38 WHEREAS, this will be Ms. Alicea's first, two-year term serving on this Board. 39 40 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF 41 SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT: 42 43 Section 1. The City Commission hereby acknowledges Mayor Stoddard's right to 44 appoint Aracely Alicea as his representative. 45 46 Section 2.
