A Resolution acknowledging Commissioner Bob Welsh's (Group Seat III) re-appointment of Laurie Kahn, as the representative of Group Seat III, to serve on the Planning Board, for a two-year term ending June 1, 2019. WHEREAS, Article II, Section 8, Sub-section A of the City Charter provides that: * * * When a Board or Committee is comprised of five members, each City Commissioner shall appoint one person to serve as a representative on the Board or Committee. When there are more than five (5) members on a Board or Committee, each City Commissioner shall appoint one person to serve as a representative on the Board or Committee, and all members of such Board or Committee in excess of five (5) shall be appointed by three (3) affirmative votes of the City Commission based on recommendations submitted by any City Commissioner. When a Board or Committee has less than five (5) members, then the selection of all members shall be by three (3) affirmative votes of the City Commission from recommendations submitted by any City Commissioner. (Amended 2-09-10) , J 21 WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to acknowledge the RE-appointment of Laurie Kahn, a 22 . . resident of the City of South Miami, to serve for a two-year term on the Planning Board. Appointment 23 shall expire June 1, 2019 or until removed or unless a successor is duly appointed and qualified; and 24 25 WHEREAS, commencing with appointments made after January 1, 2009, Sec. 2-22 26. "Term Limits" of the Code of Ordinances provides that, appointees are limited to two (2) 27 consecutive two-year terms of membership on a specific commission, board, or committee. 28 After serving a maximum of two (2) consecutive year terms, an appointee shall not be 29 reappointed to the same commission, board or committee unless at least one year has elapsed 30 between the term limited position and the effective date of commencement of the proposed 31 appointment for a new term; and 32 33 WHEREAS, Sec. 2-22 "Term Limits" of the Code of Ordinances, as amended by Ordinance No. 34 06-14-2184, dated April 15, 2014, provides that the appointer, or his or her successor in office, may extend 35 the term limits of his or her appointment with the advice and consent of a majority of the City Commission; 36 and 37 38 WHEREAS, this will be Ms. Kahn's second, two-year term serving on this Board. 39 40 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY 41 COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT: 42 43 Section 1. The City Commission hereby acknowledges Commissioner Welsh's right 44 to re-appoint Laurie Kahn to the Planning Board as the representative of Group Seat III pursuant 45 to the terms of the City Charter. 46 Section 2.
