Gentlemen:
This letter is in response to the Planning Boardts Notice of Public Hearing #71-6,
March 9, 1971. We wish to go on record as opposing and objecting to the request
of Applicant, H.V. Green for the special use exception to permit the construction
of an off-street parking lot in an RU-1 zone located approximately 5731 SW 77 Terr.
We have lived at our address of 5712 SW 77 Terrace for over twelve years. Along
with our neighbors, we have attended many sessions of the Zoning Board and the
City Council regarding zoning changes. In this immediate vicinity, we have always
felt that the neighborhood should maintain its residential character and have said so
and expressed this feeling many times. Professional zoning appeared to be an in-
evitability, and so we learned to accept this. Most families in this immediate vicin-
ity have lived here many years and are even now raising their familie.s, including us.
There are many small children from ages one on up living on 77th Terrace between '
57th and 58th Avenue. A.proposed parking lot is preposterous for many obvious
reasons -- increased traffic, congestion, noise, dirt and danger of automobile acci-
dents resulting in injury or death to one of our children.
We did accept the professional zoning, the building was constructed with obviously
adequate parking space which the City approved as being entirely satisfactory.
WHY NOW THIS ADDITIONAL EXPANSION AT THE�EXPENSE AND DETRIMENT
OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
This request for additional parking on this residentially zoned lot in a neighborhood
of many fine, modern homes is, no doubt, motivated by greed of the promoters
rather than by sincere concern for the residences and the children of this neighbor-
hood. We hope your judgment will be sensible and humane and that you will reject
this attempt at further encroachment into this residential area.

1. SECURE APPLICATION FORMS FROM THE ZONING DIRECTOR'S OFFICE.

2. HAVE SKETCH OR PLANS WITH SUFFICIENT DETAILS INDICATING THE VARIANCES OR EXCEPTIONS
-REQUESTED. FOR CHANGE OF ZONING, PLANS MAY NOT BE REQUIRED. THE APPLICANT IS INSTRUCT-
ED THAT A SEPARATE APPLICATION WILL BE REQUIRED FOR VARIANCES AND EXCEPTIONS AFTER THE
CHANGE OF ZONING HAS BEEN GRANTED BY COUNCIL.
3. FILL OUT THE APPLICATION COMPLETELY AND ACCURATELY WITH SURVEYS, PHOTOS] PLANS* ETC.
AS NEEDED BEFORE SUBMITTING TO THE ZONING DIRECTOR.
4. SUBMIT THE APPLICATION TO THE ZONING DIRECTOR AT LEAST THREE (3) WEEKS PRIOR TO THE
PLANNING BOARD MEETING. A FEE OF $30. 00 IS REQUIRED AT THE TIME THE APPLICATION IS FILED.
S. REGULAR PLANNING BOARD MEETINGS ARE HELD TWICE PER MONTH, ON TUESDAY PRECEDING THE
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING. (COUNCIL MEETS ON THE FIRST AND THIRD TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH).
THE MEETINGS ARE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL AND BEGIN AT 88 00 O'CLOCK P. M.
6.. THE APPLICANT (OR HIS AGENT) SHOULD REPRESENT HIMSELF AT THE PLANNING BOARD MEETING.
THE APPLICANT WILL BE EXPECTED TO PRESENT HIS CASE WITH' PLANS, PETITIONS, AFFIDAVITS
OR ANY OTHER DATA WHICH HE FEELS WILL HELP IN HIS PRESENTATION. THE PLANNING BOARD
WILL ACT ON THE APPLICATION BASED QN�THE INFORMATION AVAILABLE IF NO ONE IS PRESENT TO
SPEAK ON BEHALF OF THE APPLICANT.
7. THE PLANNING BOARD WILL MAKE ITS RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE COUNCIL WHICH WILL THEN ACT
ON THEM.
S. THE APPLICANT SHOULD BE PRESENT AT THE COUNCIL MEETING TO PRESENT HIS CASE AT WHICH
TIME THE COUNCIL WILL PASS A RESOLUTION OR ORDINANCE, APPROVING OR DENYING THE REQUEST
MADE BY THE APPLICANT.
9. A CHANGE OF ZONINGV VARIANCE OR EXCEPTION REQUIRES AN ORDINANCE BE ADOPTED BY COUNCIL.
THIS BECOMES EFFECTIVE AFTER COUNCIL HAS TAKEN ACTION AT TWO CONSEQUENT MEETINGS.
THE ORDINANCE BECOMES EFFECTIVE UPON ADOPTION AFTER THIRD READING. _
