A Resolution acknowledging Commissioner Liebman's appointment of Donna Shelley as the representative of Group Seat II, to serve on the Historic Preservation Board for a two-year term ending February 6, 2019. WHEREAS, Article II, Section 8, Sub-section A of the City Charter provides that: 9 * * * When a Board or Committee is comprised of five members, each City 10 Commissioner shall appoint one person to serve as a representative on 11 the Board or Committee. When there are more than five (5) members on a 12 Board or Committee, each City Commissioner shall appoint one person to 13 serve as a representative on the Board or Committee, and all members of 14 such Board or Committee in excess of five (5) shall be appointed by three 15 (3) affirmative votes of the City Commission based on recommendations 16 submitted by any City Commissioner. When a Board or Committee has less 17 than five (5) members, then the selection of all members shall be by three (3) 18 affirmative votes of the City Commission from recommendations submitted 19 by any City Commissioner. (Amended 2-09-10) 20 21 WHEREAS, the Mayor and Commission recognize the important contributions made by 22 those who serve on the various city boards and committees, and wish to have a full complement 23 to each of the active boards and committees; and 24 25 WHEREAS, commencing with appointments made after January 1, 2009, Sec. 2-22 26 "Term Limits" of the Code of Ordinances provides that, appointees are limited to two (2) 27 consecutive two-year terms of membership on a specific commission, board, or committee. 28 After serving a maximum of two (2) consecutive year terms, an appointee shall not be 29 reappointed to the same commission, board or committee unless at least one year has 30 elapsed between the term limited position and the effective date of commencement of the 31 proposed appointment for a new term; and 32 33 WHEREAS, Ms. Shelley served on the Historic Preservation Board for a number of 34 years and at least one year has elapsed as required by Sec. 2-22 "Term Limits" of the Code of 35 Ordinances; therefore, this will be considered to be Ms. Shelley's first two-year term for the 36 purposes of Term Limit. 37 38 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY 39 COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT: 40 41 Section 1. The City Commission hereby acknowledges Commissioner Liebman's 42 right to appoint Donna Shelley as the representative of Group Seat II pursuant to the terms of 43 the City Charter. 44 45 Section 2.
