18Soutfr Miami THE CITY OF PLEASANT LIVING CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER INTER-OFFICE MEMORANDUM To: From: Via: Date: Subject: Background: Attachments: The Honorable Mayor &Members of the City Commission Steven Alexander,City Manager Quentin Pough,Director of Parks and Recreation January 17,2017 Agenda ItemNo.:IS An Ordinance related to the fee schedule;amending Ordinance 12-16- 2245to reduce professional photos and filming fees for special events from the fee schedule. At the September 16,2014 City Commission meeting, the Mayor and Commission adopted a new fee schedule allowing funding which will cover the cost of services provided.Still photo andfilming fees in the amount of $1,500 and $8,000 perday, respectively, were tentatively recommended byCity staff and subsequently approved by the Commission. After thorough review and discussion with various municipalities and industry professionals,City staff recommends revising professional still photos and filming fees asfollows: Professional Photos &Filming (8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.) Still photo fee:$100/day Filmingfee(1-10 person crew):$200/day Filming fee (11-20 person crew):$300/day Filming fee (21+person crew):$500/day City staff believes the proposed fee structure is competitive compared to other local municipalities in Miami-Dade County and reasonable for industry professionals.Furthermore, staff is confident that professional still photo and filming activity willrise due to the reduction of fees.
