No. 264-97-10264RESOLUTION NO.264-97-10264 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,RELATING TO APPROVAL OF COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI AND AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE,COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES,AFL-CIO;CITY EMPLOYEES LOCAL 3294;WHICH AGREEMENT PROVIDESFOR AMENDMENTS TO ARTICLE H;ARTICLE XIII;ARTICLE XVI;ARTICLE XV;ARTICLE XW;ARTICLE XIX;ARTICLE XXVII;ARTICLE XXIX;ARTICLE XXXVII;ARTICLE XXXVIII;AND ARTICLE XXXIX OF1994-97 AFSCME AGREEMENT. WHEREAS,theCity Manager andthe American Federation of State,Countyand Municipal Employees (AFSCME),Local 3294have reached a Collective Bargaining Agreement forthe1997-98fiscalyear;and WHEREAS,theagreementhasbeenratifiedbytheunionrankandfileonDecember12, 1997,and WHEREAS,theagreementprovides,amongotherthings,that: (a)All bargaining unit employees whoareemployedinpositionscoveredbythe unitonthedatethis agreement is ratified bytheCityCommissionshallreceiveafour percent(4%)wageincrease effective October1,1997. (b)Effective 1998,theFridayfollowingthanksgivingdaywillberecognizedasa paidholidaybytheCity,withthework schedule forthoseemployees required towork onthedaytobearranged by theirsupervisors. (c)Effective October1,1997,theCityshallissuea jacket of qualitycomparable tothatusedbythePoliceDepartmenttoeachemployeecoveredbythe agreement. Furthermore,safetyshoeswillbe replaced asnecessarytomaintainsafety standards of the Department. (d)Effective October1,1997,annualawardintheform of a$25.00check,along withaSafeDriverCertificateshallbepresentedtoeachemployeeinthefollowing categorieswithasafedriving record: HeavyEquipmentOperatorIIFieldForeman HeavyEquipmentOperatorILandscapeSupervisor Waste CollectionDriverBuildingMaintenance Supervisor (e)Effective October1,1997,theretirementageshallbereducedfrom60years to55yearsforallgeneralemployees,andthepension benefit multiplierfactorshallbe two andonequarterpercent(2.25%)in1997;twoandone half percent(2.5%) effective October1,1998:andtwoandthreequarterspercent(2.75%)effective October 1,1999. (f)Effective October1,1997,anyemployeethat works inahigherpaystatus classification forthree(3)consecutive work dayswillreceivepay of the lowest step of the higher classification ora one (1)step pay increase (whichever is higher)forall consecutive hoursworkedinthehigher classification. NOW,THEREFORE,BEIT RESOLVED BYTHEMAYORANDCITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI: Section 1.ThattheCity Commission hereby ratifies the aforesaid amendments tothe agreement between AFSCMELocal3294andtheCityofSouth Miami. Section2.That thisresolutionshalltakeeffectimmediatelyupon approval. PASSED AND ADOPTED thisJL6thday of December.1997.
