A Resolution acknowledging Commissioner Liebman's appointment of
Donna Shelley as the representative of Group Seat II,to serve on the
Historic Preservation Board for a two-year term ending February 6,2019.
WHEREAS,Article II,Section 85 Sub-section A of the City Charter provides that:
***When a Board or Committee is comprised of five members,each City
Commissioner shall appoint one person to serve asa representative on
the Board or Committee.When there are more than five (5)members ona
Board or Committee,each City Commissioner shall appoint one person to
serve asa representative on theBoard or Committee,and all members of
such Board or Committee in excess of five (5)shall be appointed by three
(3)affirmative votes of the City Commission based on recommendations
submitted by any City Commissioner.When a Board or Committee has less
than five(5)members,then the selection of all members shall beby three (3)
affirmative votes of theCity Commission from recommendations submitted
by any City Commissioner.(Amended 2-09-10)
WHEREAS,the Mayor and Commission recognize the important contributions made by
those who serve onthe various city boards and committees,and wish to have afull complement
to each of the active boards and committees;and
WHEREAS,commencing with appointments made after January 1,2009,Sec.2-22
"Term Limits"of the Code of Ordinances provides that,appointees are limited to two (2)
consecutive two-year terms of membership ona specific commission,board,or committee.
After serving a maximum of two (2)consecutive year terms,an appointee shall not be
reappointed to the same commission,board or committee unless at least one year has
elapsed between the term limited position and the effective date of commencement of the
proposed appointment fora new term;and
WHEREAS,Ms.Shelley served on the Historic Preservation Board fora number of
years andat least one year has elapsed as required bySec.2-22 "Term Limits"of theCode of
Ordinances;therefore,thiswillbe considered tobeMs.Shelley's first two-year term forthe
purposes of Term Limit.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,THAT:
Section 1.The City Commission hereby acknowledges Commissioner Liebman's
righttoappointDonnaShelleyas the representativeofGroupSeatIIpursuanttothetermsof
the City Charter.
Section 2.The expiration date of this appointment shall be February 6,2019
unless removed earlier,or until a successor isduly appointed and qualified.

Section 3.Effective Date.This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
