RESOLUTION NO.106-97-10076 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,RELATING TO THE STREET STANDARDS AND ON-STREET PARKING FOR S.W.59 COURT,IN ORDER TO PROVIDE FOR TWO SIX-FOOT SIDEWALK WIDTHS AND TWO SIDES OF PARALLEL PARKING ALONG S.W.59 COURT BETWEEN S.W.73 STREET AND S.W.74 STREET,PURSUANT TO SECTION 20-7.26(0 OF THE CITY'S LAND DEVELOPMENT CODE; AND,PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS,on June 3,1997,the City Commission adopted a new sub-section 20-7.26(0 which permits the City Commission to adopt revised street standards in order to address special needs;and, WHEREAS,the Planning &Zoning and Public Works Departments have developed a revised street standard forS.W.59Court,in orderto provide for two six-foot sidewalk widths and twosides of parallel parking along S.W.59Court between S.W.73 street and S.W.74 street;and, WHEREAS,the City Commission findsthatitisinthe public interest to provide for increased availability of public parking andto provide for six-foot sidewalksinthe Hometown District. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA: Section 1.The drawing prepared by City staff and attached hereto as "Exhibit A,"is hereby adopted as the street standard for S.W.59 Court between S.W.73 Street and S.W.74 Street, pursuant to Section 20-7.26 (C)ofthe Land Development Code. Section 2.This resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval. BACKGROUND &ANALYSIS: The proposed resolution will provide for additional parking downtown,in coordination with the S.W.73rd Street project.In addition,the proposed street section maintains the six-foot sidewalk standard for the downtown,while providing for parallel parking on both sides of S.W.59 Court. The 59 Court project isa physical construction project and will be scheduled to coordinate with the Sunset Drive Improvement project.The Public Works Department is taking a pro-active role in this matter by providing for improved conditions within the public rights-of-way of the City. RECOMMENDATION:Approval.
