RE:2nd Annual MLK Black History Program -2/22/97
The M.L.K.Steering Committee would like for you to endorse a
resolution co-sponsoring the 2nd Annual Black History Program
scheduled for February 22,1997.
I know this request is rather late but we are just getting over the
MLK Day Celebration.Any help the City can provide will be
appreciated. We,the MLK Committee have deposited $500.00 for the
use of Murray Park from January 18th,this amount is still in the
City's account.
Last year the MLK Committee sponsored a program at Murray Park for
$3,000.00 in addition to what in-kind services the City of South
Miami provided fe.gr.police service, public works and parks &
recreation services)
This year in addition to in-kind services the MLK Committee is in
need of monetary donations in excess of $2,000.00.
Plans for this year's event includes three local school bands and
the Miami Bahamas Junkanoos. There will be speakers, arts &crafts
and a program consisting of song, dance, poetry and drama.
Your support of this effort it will help all citizens of South
Miami feel proud to reside in the "City of Pleasant Living".
Thanking you in advance for your assistance in this matter.
