'ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,
FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 19 -22, CODE
OF ORDINANCES CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,
FLORIDA, BY INCREASING RATES ESTABLISH-
ED FOR THE USE OF TAXICAB; PROVIDING
PENALTY FOR VIOLATION; ESTABLISHING
EFFECTIVE DATE; AND SETTING FORTH INTENT
THAT ORDINANCE BE INCLUDED IN CITY CODE.
BE IT' ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL -OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH MIAMI`, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That Section 19 -22 Code of Ordinances, City
of South Miami, Florida., be and is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Sec. 19 -22. Rates established; rate card required.
The following rates shall be charged for the use
of a taxicab:
(a) Mileage rates: Fifty cents ('500) for the first
one -sixth (1 /6th) of a mile or fraction thereof;
ten cents (100) for each additional one -sixth
(1 /6th) of a mile or fraction thereof.
(b) Waiting time: Ten cents (100) for each one
minute of waiting time or fraction thereof..
(c) Hand baggage: There will be no charge for
hand baggage.
(d) No charge for extra passengers.
Every taxicab operated under this chapter shall have
a rate card setting forth authorized rates of fare
displayed in such a place as to be in view of all
passengers."
Section 2. if any aeotion, sentence, clause, phrase,
or word of this ordinance is for any reason held or declared t

cluded therein
Section 3. That any person, persons, firm, partnership
or corporation violating any of the provisions hereof .shall, upon
conviction, be punished by a fine not to exceed $500.00, or by
imprisonment not to exceed six months, or by both such fine and
imprisonment in the discretion of the Municipal Judge Each day
`i a violation is permitted to exist shall constitute a separate
offense.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon passage.
Section 5. It is intended that this Ordinance be permanent
in nature and shall, be included in the Code of Ordinances, City of
South Miami, Florida.
