AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,
FLORIDA, DESIGNATING FOURTEEN, ADDITIONAL
PERSONS TO OPERATE VOTING MACHINES AND /OR
ELECTION BOOKS AND APPOINTING MARTHA NEWSON
TO REPLACE KATHERINE L. CATES AS A MEMBER
OF THE ELECTION PERSONELL AT A DESIGNATED
ELECTION: PROVIDING FOR THIS ORDINANCE
TO 'TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY AS AN EMERGENCY
MEASURE AND DISPENSING WITH THE REQUIREMENT
OF READING THIS ORDINANCE AT NO LESS THAN
TWO MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OS SOUTH MIAMI,, FLORIDA.:
Section 1. That the following persons, to -wit:
Rudy Swartz, Mary Graver, Ernest M. McCracker, Ann H.
Scoville, Ruth Cullinan, 011ie Wilkes, Mossie Peck,
Pat Hellmueller, Gerald;Seiden, Irene Mullen, Catherine
Ware, Marcella Barona, Jean Starling, and Dorothy
Durdin.
be, and they are hereby appointed as additional personnel for
the operation of voting machines and /or election books at the
regular municipal election to be held in the City of South
Miami on February 12, 1974.
Section 2. Martha Newson be and she is hereby
appointed to replace Katherine L. Cates as a member of the
election personell for the election of February 12, 1974.
Section 3. This ordinance is declared to be an
emergency ordinance adopted for the purpose of meeting a public
emergency affecting the life, safety* health, and property of
the residents of the City of South Miami, ylorida and the
reQuirement of reading this ordinance at no less than two
meetings of the City ccyunci:l is hereby dispensed with and this
ordinance shall take effect immediately at the time of its
passage.
