ORDINANCE 813ORDINANCE NO. 17 -74 -813 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A COUNCILMAN FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI TO FILL THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF COUNCILMAN EDWARD BRAMSON; DESIGNATING APRIL 9, 1974 AS THE DATE OF SAID ELECTION; DESIGNATING THE PLACE OF POLLING FOR SAID SPECIAL ELECTION; DESIGNATING 13 PERSONS AS :INSPECTORS TO OPERATE VOTING MACHINES AND /OR ELECTION BOOKS AND A CLERK AT SAID ELECTION, AND PROVIDING, FOR THIS ORDINANCE TO TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY AS AN EMERGENCY MEASURE AND DISPENSING WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF READING THIS ORDINANCE AT NO LESS THAN TWO MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL. WHEREAS, Edward Bramson has resigned as a member of the City Council of the city of South Miami, and WHEREAS, the vacancy created has occurred more than nine months prior to the next regular South Miami General Election, and WHEREAS, the City Charter provides that under such . circumstances the unexpired term shall be filled by a special election being held not less than 45 clays nor more than 60 days after such vacancy occurred. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA Section _j. That a special election is hereby called for April. 9, 1974, for the ;purpose of electing one Councilman to serve for the une iited term created by the retigna;tion of Councilman Eduard bramgon. e t . That the following persons, to- wit: Willie Mae Robinson, Rudy Swartz, Mary Weeks, Mary McGowan, Millie Case, Ruth Cullinan, Mossie Peck, Jerry Seiden, Juel Tatum, Dorothy Swartz, Catherine Ware, Jean Lee. be, and they are hereby appointed as inspectors for the ;operation of voting machines and /or election books at the special election herein called, and Helen Brooke be, and she is hereby appointed as Clerk of Elections for said election, and said names are certified to the Mayor of the City of South Miami. Section 4. This ordinance is declared to be an emergency ordinance adopted for the purpose of meeting a.public emergency affecting the life, safety, health and property of the residents of the City of South Miami, Florida, and the requirement of reading this ordinance at no less than two meetings of the City Council is hereby dispensed with, and this ordinance shall take effect immediately at the time of its passage.
