A Resolution of the Mayor and City Commission of the City of South Miami, Florida,
Co-designating a portion of S.W. 64 th Street as "Pastor Rodney B. James Street"
directing the City Clerk to submit this Resolution to Miami-Dade County and to take
all other necessary actions to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
WHEREAS, Pastor James celebrated his Pastoral Anniversary this past October; and
WHEREAS, Pastor James was appointed the Chaplain for the South Miami Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Pastor James was the President of the South Miami Concerned Clergy and Citizens
Coalition; and
WHEREAS, Pastor James had served as Vice President of Florida East Coast Baptist Association-
Progressive Kingdom Baptist Association; and
WHEREAS, Pastor James is survived by his wife Carla and children, Royce, and twins Remington
and Zamaria; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to co-designate a portion of S.W. 64 th Street as "Pastor
Rodney B. James Street".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission wishes to co-designate a portion of S.W. 64 th Street as "Pastor
Rodney B. James Street", and that it shall, as soon as authorized by Miami Dade County, be known in and by
the City of South Miami as "Pastor Rodney B. James Street", and S.W. 64 th Street, and signs shall be made
and installed declaring that designation. The City Clerk is directed to submit this Resolution to Miami-Dade
County and to take all other necessary actions to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
Section 2. This Resolution shall be provided to the US Postal Service and to the appropriate agencies
to co-designate a portion of S.W. 64th Street as "Pastor Rodney B. James Street", and S.W. 64th Street.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
