_add-on b)Resolution No. Add-on item b) Sponsored by: Commissioner Edmond City Commission Meeting: 11-01-16 2 3 4 5 6 7 A Resolution acknowledging Commissioner Gabriel Edmond's (Group Seat I) appointment of Douglas Thompson, as the representative of Group Seat I, to serve on the Environmental Review and Preservation Board for a two- year term ending October 31,2018. 8 WHEREAS, Article II, Section 8, Sub-section A ofthe City Charter provides that: 9 10 * * * When a Board or Committee is comprised of five members, each City 11 Commissioner shall appoint one person to serve as a representative on the 12 Board or Committee. When there are more than five (5) members on a 13 Board or Committee, each City Commissioner shall appoint one person to 14 serve as a representative on the Board or Committee, and all members of 15 such Board or Committee in excess of five (5) shall be appointed by three 16 (3) affirmative votes of the City Commission based on recommendations 17 submitted by any City Commissioner. When a Board or Committee has less 18 than five (5) members, then the selection of all members shall be by three (3) 19 affirmative votes of the City Commission from recommendations submitted 20 by any City Commissioner. (Amended 2-09-10) 21 22 WHEREAS, the Mayor and Commission recognize the important contributions made by 23 those who serve on the various city boards and committees, and wish to have a full complement 24 to each of the active boards and committees; and 25 26 WHEREAS, there is no current representative for City Commission Group Seat I on the 27 Environmental Review and Preservation Board; and 28 29 WHEREAS, Commissioner Edmond now desires to appoint Douglas Thompson to serve 30 on the Environmental Review and Preservation Board, as his representative. Therefore, Douglas 31 Thompson's appointment shall expire October 31, 2018 or upon his removal or until a successor 32 is duly appointed and qualified; and 33 34 WHEREAS, pursuant to Sec. 2-22 "Term Limits" of the Code of Ordinances, this will be 35 considered to be Mr. Thompson's first, two-year term for the purposes of Term Limits. 36 37 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY 38 COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT: 39 40 Section 1. The City Commission hereby acknowledges Commissioner Edmond's 41 right to appoint Douglas Thompson to serve on the Environmental Review and Preservation 42 Board as the representative of Group Seat I pursuant to the terms of the City Charter. 43 44 Section 2.
