A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept a donation from
Volksblast, Inc., in the amount of $9,000 for fiscal year 2016/2017.
The City's Parks and Recreation Department received a generous
donation in the amount of $9,000 dollars from Volksblast, Inc., for the
procurement of Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering
(STEM) classes for fiscal year 2016/2017.
This donation will be used towards STEM program classes/activities and
will incorporate topics often not included in school such as aerospace,
chemical, civil, environmental, industrial, marine, mechanical, software
engineering, and robotics.
A vendor for such instruction shall be selected and procured.
Subsequently, classes will be held at the Gibson-Bethel Community
Center and operate October 2016 through September 2017.

WHEREAS, the City's Parks and Recreation Department received a generous donation from
Volksblast, Inc. in the amount of $9,000 for the procurement of Science, Technology, Mathematics, and
Engineering (STEM) workshop classes for fiscal year 2016/2017; and
WH.EREAS, STEM workshop classes will incorporate topics often not included in school such as

WHEREAS, classes will be held at the Gibson-Bethel Community Center and operate October 2016
through September 2017.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:
. Section 1: The City Manager is authorized to accept a donation from Volksblast, Inc. in the amount
of $9,000 to be' used towards the procurement of Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering
(STEM) workshop classes for fiscal year 2016/2017, increasing the expenditure line item 001-2000-572-5670,
Special Recreation Programs, by $9,000.
Section 2: If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for any reason held invalid
or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this resolution.
Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon ~doption.
