I received an email from Mr. Drew Sheridan, attorney representing the control of the Robinson properties who states that he has reviewed our interest to purchase the properties with Mr. Griffin and reports that Mr. Griffin is not interested in selling until the City is ready to break ground. This is contrary to statements that he made previously to me in a meeting in which he stated that he would sell the properties for the average of two appraisals on each property. He would be willing to sell the property at 6412 SW 59 Place when South Miami is beyond the planning phase and ready to commence construction, and will consider attractive offers at that time. We had signing ceremonies with the PBA and separately with AFSCME for their collective bargaining agreements, which is a major accomplishment for not only my team but for you as a Commission. As you know we have received another significant offer from the Lynx Companies regarding our City Hall property that is far reaching in its scope. Among other things it includes construction of new affordable housing, and the construction of most of the sewer system improvements that the City needs to perform to ensure we have protected our community relative to sea level rise. I anticipate receiving at least two other proposals from different entities, one of which I will announce tonight,· and I am working on developing a summary comparison sheet for your easy reference on these proposals. I anticipate a THE CITY OF PLEASANT LIVING CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER MEMORANDUM discussion and perhaps some suggested revisions to the proposing entities by the Commission prior to any formal vote or public education process. Along that line, Mast Capital sent us a letter informing us of their intent, through an affiliated entity, to submit a formal proposal regarding the City Hall site to ensure a Project that South Miami would be proud of, which includes exciting, well planned and designed architecture. There will be a police appreciation event sponsored the Community Action Agency on July 28. It will be held from 1 :30pm to 5:30 pm at the Community Center in Murray Park. All residents are invited.
