WHEREAS,Mr.Carlos Alamilla,ownerand operator of Miami All Stars("the applicant"),has requestedtohosta 'COLLEGE AVENUE DAY'which featuresa 3-on-3 basketball tournamentand college conference event at the Gibson-Bethel CommunityCenteronSunday,November 13,2016 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm;and WHEREAS,the college conference component isan opportunity forhighschool students to learn about the college admission process andhowto obtain scholarships andfinancialaid;the applicant has more than 30 years of experience inadvisingand counseling students incollege admissions and obtaining scholarships and financial aid;and WHEREAS,the applicant has requested to waive the gymnasium rental fee in the amount of $720dollars(8 hours X$90/per hour);and WHEREAS,the City Commission had agreed on Tuesday,November 1,2016 to waive the gymnasium fee in the amount of $720 dollars. NOW,THEREFORE,BEIT RESOLVED BYTHE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OFTHECITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA THAT: Section 1:TheCity Manager is authorized to waive the fees in the amount of $720 for the useof the basketball gymnasium byMiami All Starsat the Gibson-BethelCommunity Center on Sunday,November 13,2016. Section 2:Ifany section clause,sentence,or phrase ofthis resolution isforany reason held invalid or unconstitutional bya court of competent jurisdiction,the holdingshallnotaffect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.
