approval for upgrading the University to a four-year comprehensive institution with an increased range of masters and doctoral programs, and for the establishment of new schools in engineering,
architecture, Nursing, and Health Sciences. The University received more academic program approvals from the Board of regents and Legislature than all other Florida public universities
combined.
Obtained legislative funding to construct five major campus facilities and numerous auxiliary structures.
Launched and obtained funding for the Comprehensive University
Plan, a $160 million program to enhance the availability of postsecondary education in Southeast Florida.

Conceived and organized the City of Miami’s relief flight to
assist the victims of hurricane David in the Dominican Republic. The President of
