A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to waive one-hundred percent
(100%) of the non-profit fees for the use of the Education Room at the Gibson-
Bethel Community Center by the South Miami Community Advisory Committee
to host monthly meetings on the third Monday of every month for twelve (12)
months.
BACKGROUND: The South Miami Community Advisory Committee would like to host monthly
meetings at the Gibson-Bethel Community Center's Education Room on the
third Monday of every month from 7:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. beginning Monday,
June 20, 2016 until Monday, June 19, 2017.

WAIVED:
Community Advisory Committees are utilized to foster and sustain civic
engagement in communities located in targeted areas. In accordance with the
requirements of the Community Service Block Grant Program, the
Department's citizen participation strategy and approach gives residents the
opportunity to identify community conditions in which low-income families
live. The citizen's participation process encourages residents to become
involved in their respective Community Advisory Committees. The South
Miami Community Advisory Committee shall engage on interest and views
within South Miami to reach solutions to problems that directly impact the
community as a whole.
The South Miami Community Advisory Committee is requesting a one-hundred
percent (100%) waiver for the use of the Education Room rental fee in the
amount of $340 dollars.

($20 RENTAL FEE X 1 HOURS X 12 MEETINGS) $240
ONE-TIME SECURITY DEPOSIT (NOT-PROFIT) $100
TOTAL $340
Upon approval of the aforementioned waived fees, the final cost for the rental is
$0.00.

WHEREAS, the South Miami Community Advisory Committee would like to host monthly
meetings in the Education Room every from 7:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. for twelve (12) months; and
WHEREAS, the .applicant will begin meeting on Monday, June 20, 2016 until Monday, June
19,2017 on the third Monday of every month; and
WHEREAS, the South Miami Community Advisory Committee gives residents the
opportunity to identify community conditions in which low-income families live; and
WHEREAS, the applicant is requesting a one-hundred percent (100%) waiver for the use of
the Education Room rental fee ($240) and the security deposit ($100) in the amount of $340; and
WHEREAS, upon approval of the aforementioned waived fees, the final cost for the rental is
$0.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to permit South Miami Community
Advisory Committee to host monthly meetings for twelve (12) months on the third Monday of every
month.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to waive the Non-profit Rental Fees in the
amount of $340 for the use of the Education Room at the Gibson-Bethel Community Center.
Section 3. Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption by vote of the City Commission.

Community Advisory Committees are utilized to foster and sustain civic engagement in communities
located in targeted areas. In accordance with the requirements of the Community Service Block Grant
(CSBG) program, the Department's citizen participation strategy and approach affords residents the
opportunity to identify community conditions and needs, develop and implement plans and monitor
their effectiveness in improving the conditions in which low-income people live.
The citizen participation process encourages residents to become involved in their respective
Community Advisory Committees (CACs). The CAC members are elected by and represent the residents
in their communities. The structure and the scope of the Community Advisory Committees shall
effectively engage citizens to be actively engaged on interest and views within their communities and
within the broader community while working together to reach solutions to problems that directly
impact the community as a whole. Through this board, the committee will better maximize the use of
local resources.
The CAC's shall develop and nurture positive relationships with private and public sector entities to
improve the quality of life for low-income communities. I hope this information is useful as it pertains to
the South Miami CAe.
