A Resolution directing the City Manager to replace four rows of chairs in the Commission Chamber with ergonomic chairs and tables to assist City staff in performing their duties. WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission sit in comfortable, ergonomic chairs during Commission meetings; and WHEREAS, the chairs for the City staff and the public in the Commission Chamber are 60 years old, low slung, with springed vinyl seats and hard wooden backs; and WHEREAS, in 2014 certain members of the Public expressed their deep and abiding love for these old chairs when the City Manager last suggested replacing them with more ergonomic chairs; and WHEREAS, the public can go home at any time during a Commission meeting should they become uncomfortable, but members of the City staff attending Commission meetings must sit as long as five hours in the Chamber's 60- year -old hard- backed chairs; and WHEREAS, the antiquated hard- backed seating in the Commission Chamber affords no surface on which City staff can open a Commission agenda, additional backup items, and a writing pad for taking notes, and is so low slung that no normal table would be compatible; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to provide City staff with functional and comfortable working conditions, especially when staff must work long, late hours necessitated by Commission meetings.
