A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to permit Taco Craft Miami, LLC
located at 5829 SW 73'd Street, to hold its Grand Opening Celebration -Taco
Craft's Cinco De Mayo Block Party, and to waive the cost of parking meters.
Taco Craft Miami, LLC ("the applicant"), submitted a Special Event Application
requesting permission to host its Grand Opening Celebration on Thursday, May
5,2016.
Taco Craft Miami is requesting to kick off their Grand Opening Celebration with a
festive Mexican themed Cinco De Mayo Block Party. The Block Party will consist
of live entertainment, food and music.
The applicant is requesting a street closure on 73'd Street and 58th Court and the
use of off-duty Police Officers. In addition, the applicant is requesting a waiver
for the parking meter fees.
The applicant has completed the Special Event Application and has submitted
the necessary notification/petition form signed by businesses that will be
affected by the requested street closure.
The applicant has paid the City $660, which includes $60 application fee, $100
administrative fee and $500 refundable security deposit.
The applicant is responsible for all services rendered by the City:

7 WHEREAS, Taco Craft Miami, LLC has submitted a Special Event Application to hold its
8 Grand Opening Celebration on Thursday, May 5, 2016 in downtown South Miami; and
9
10 WHEREAS, the applicant is requesting a street closure on 73,d Street and 58 th Avenue;
11 and
12
13 WHEREAS, the applicant has paid the City $660, which includes $500 refundable
14 security deposit, $100 administrative fee and $60 application fee; and

16 WHEREAS, the applicant is responsible to pay the City for Police ($960), Street Closure
17 and MOT ($270) and Parking Meters ($400), totaling $1,630; and
18
19 WHEREAS, the applicant is requesting a waiver for the cost of 16 parking meters (16
20 meters x $25) in the amount of $400; and

22 WHEREAS, if the City Commission waives the Parking Meter fees, the applicant will be
23 responsible to pay the remaining services rendered totaling $1,230; and

25 WHEREAS, the applicant has completed the Special Event Application and has submitted

29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
30 CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:

32 Section 1. The City Manager herby is authorized to permit Taco Craft Miami, LLC to host
33 its Grand Opening celebration, on SW 73'd Street and 58 th Avenue.

35 Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to waive the parking meter fees in the
36 amount of $400 dollars.

38 Section 3. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for any reason
39 held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect
40 the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.

42 Section 4. Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
43 adoption by vote of the City Commission.

INSURANCE~ All special events, especially events taking place on City property require the event
holder to. carry liability insurance for their own protection as WeH as insurance protection for the Gity.
The event producer shall, pdor to the e\lent, siJbmit a Certificate of Insurance showing the required
insurance limits of $ 1,000,000 and in effect coverage; the" City of South Miami must be listed as an
additional insured in the amount of $1,000,000 are required prior to the event.

MYSlC:, The Committee consid~rs times for dlJration of music on a case by ease basis and takes into
'account things such a~ proximity to residential areaS and if there have been p~ior complaints or
issues with amplified sound/music. Outdoor music amplification may be denied andlor monitored for
voll:lI11e on a complaint driven basis. A South Miami Police Officet Of a South MiamI Code
EnforCement Officer may require the' music volume ttl be reduced or ceased based upon noise
complaints or reasonable noise concetnsas a result of the special event. AlsO, no swearing., yeillng.,
or abusive/inappropriate language (Or behavior shall be used bylhe DJ or band.
EVENT CLEAN-UP: Unless approved differently by a stlpulation($) thru the Special ISvents
Committee, event cleanup and eqUipment removal must be completely finished by8 am the day
following yO.iJr event,including reiTIoVing stages, barricades and fences, temporary toilets and other
event production equipment, picking up trash, street sweeping, power washing and other clean
up/grounds maintenance stipulations. If city .creWS<lre required to perform any type· of cleanup servic.e
due to your event, you will be billed and required to pay for the man-hours spent cleaning up.

Per our conversation, it is 280 LF from crosswalk to cross walle At a rate of $0.25, that is a total of $70 for the road
closure, per the Special Events Fee Schedule.
For roadways with two-way traffic, the MOT fee is $200. However, coordinate with Police with regards to the MOT.
