Res No 047-16-14602RESOLUTION NO.047-16-1 4602 A Resolution of the City of South Miami honoring the tenth anniversary of theclimatechangefilm,"An Inconvenient Truth"andhostinga community conversation on climate change. WHEREAS,numerousstudieshaveestablishedthatMiami-Dadeiscomprised of some of the world's mostvulnerableareastotheimpacts of climatechangeasthewarming Earth's meltingicecaps push thesealevelhigher;and WHEREAS,scientists believethattherisingsealevelwill threaten some of theregion's most vital facilities;and WHEREAS,the South Miami City Commission has passed many resolutions callingfor action on climate change;and WHEREAS,this year is the tenth anniversary of the landmark climate change movie, "An Inconvenient Truth"by Nobel Peace Prize winner and Former Vice-President Al Gore. NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,THAT: Section 1.TheMayorandtheCityCommissionherebyinvitecommunitymembersto viewthetenth anniversary showing ofthe film,"An Inconvenient Truth"on climate change. Thisviewingistobeheldbetween3:30p.m.-5:30p.m.onSaturdayMarch12,2016atSouth Miami City Hall. Section 2.TheMayorandtheCityCommissionherebyinviteMiami-Dadelocalelected officials to attend an Elected Officials Meet &Greet tobe held before the film between 2:00 - 3:30 pm on Saturday March12,2016atCityHall.Specifically,we invite:alllocalelected officials ofallthe 33 municipalities of Miami-Dade;the Mayor of Miami-Dade County and all local elected officials atthe county level in Miami-Dade;allthe elected Florida Legislature representatives inthe Miami-Dade delegation;all members ofthe U.S.Congressional delegation that represents Miami-Dade. Section 3.TheCityClerkisherebyinstructedtoforwardthisresolutiontoall of the elected officials listed in Section 2. Section4.Severability.Ifany section clause,sentence,orphraseofthis resolution isfor any reason held invalid or unconstitutional bya court of competent jurisdiction,the holding shall notaffectthevalidity of theremainingportions of thisresolution. Section 5.Effective Date.This resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption byvote of theCity Commission. PASSED AND APPROVED this1 stday of March ?2016.
