07-790R-018GENERAL NOTES
1. EXAMINATION OF CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND SITE OF WORK. THE BIDDER IS REQUIRED,
BEFORE SUBMITTING HIS PROPOSAL, TO VISIT THE SITE OF THE PROPOSED WORK AND
FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF WITH THE NATURE AND EXTENT OF THE WORK AND ANY LOCAL
CONDITIONS THAT MAY IN ANY MANNER, AFFECT THE WORK TO BE DONE AND EQUIPMENT,
MATERIALS AND LABOR REQUIRED THEREFORE. SINCE THE WORK INVOLVES EXISTING
BUILDING SYSTEMS AND FACILITIES, SPECIAL CONSIDERATION SHALL BE GIVEN TO
EXAMINATION OF WORKING CONDITIONS.
2. AS -BUILT DWG'S SHALL BE PREPARED BY THE CONTRACTOR AND MAINTAINED DURING
THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION. AS -BUILT DRAWINGS MUST BE KEPT CURRENT TO EACH
WEEK'S INSTALLATION AND RECORDED ON A CLEAN FIELD SET MARKED "AS- BUILT" SET.
AS -BUILT DRAWINGS SHALL BE PREPARED ON VELLUM PAPER OR OTHER MEDIA WHICH
WILL PERMIT REPRODUCTION BY NORMAL PRINTING METHODS. THE DRAWINGS SHALL
BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE OWNER. DRAWING SHALL SHOW THE ACTUAL ROUTING
OF ALL WIRING AND CONDUIT SIZES, USED WITHIN THE SPACE.
3. ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE HIS WORK WITH OTHER TRADES AND
UTILITY COMPANY(S) AT FIELD. ALL WORK SHALL BE DONE IN FULL ACCORDANCE
WITH THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE LATEST EDITION, AND ALL APPLICABLE
STATE AND LOCAL CODES.
4. ALL WORK SHALL BE DONE IN A NEAT AND WORKMANLIKE MANNER.
5. ALL WIRES SHALL BE COPPER UNLESS SPECIFICALLY OTHERWISE INDICATED ON THE
DRAWINGS. ALL INSULATION SHALL BE TYPE "THHN THWN ". BRANCH WIRING
SHALL BE #12 AWG UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. LENGTH OF 120VAC HOME RUNS
GREATER THAN 75 FEET SHALL BE #10 AWG AND GREATER THAN 100 FEET SHALL BE
#8 AWG.
6. CONDUIT SYSTEMS SHALL PRESENT A NEAT APPEARANCE, WITH ALL RUNS PARALLEL
OR PERPENDICULAR TO THE BUILDING LINES AND TO EACH OTHER. ALL CONDUITS
SHALL RUN TIGHT AGAINST CEILING SLABS AND /OR WALLS AND /OR BEAMS. USE
EXISTING HOLES IN BEAMS WHENEVER POSSIBLE. ALL CONDUITS SHALL BE SECURELY
FASTENED TO THE BUILDING WITH PIPE STRAPS OR OTHER APPROVED PIPE SUPPORTS.
7. ALL JUNCTION AND PULL -BOXES SHALL BE ACCESSIBLE ALL THE TIME.
8. ALL RACEWAY ROUTED, INSULATED CONDUCTORS SYSTEM SHALL BE COLOR CODED AS

9. CIRCUIT NUMBERS SHOWN ARE FOR IDENTIFICATION ONLY. IT SHALL BE THE
ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO COMPLETE PHASE PANEL BOARD
(BALANCE LOAD).
10.- DISCONNECT SWITCHES SHALL BE HORSEPOWER RATED, HEAVY DUTY,
QUICK -MAKE, QUICK- BREAK, IN NEMA 1 OR 3R ENCLOSURE AS REQUIRED BY
EXPOSURE.
11 . ALL OUTLETS MOUNTED ON COMMON WALL BETWEEN ROOMS SHALL NOT BE MOUNTED
BACK TO BACK. THEY SHALL BE STAGGERED HORIZONTALLY TO PREVENT SOUND
TRANSMISSION.
12. TWO OUTLET BOXES SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED IN THE SAME FRAMING SPACE JOINT
COMPOUND OR OTHER APPROVED MATERIAL SHALL BE APPLIED BETWEEN ALL OPEN
SPACES, BETWEEN THE JUNCTION BOX AND GYPSUM WALL BOARD.
13. ALL RECEPTACLES SHALL BE WIRED IN ACCORDANCE WITH N.E.C. TO ENSURE CORRECT
POLARITY.
14.- IT IS NOT THE INTENT OF THESE PLANS TO SHOW EVERY MINOR DETAIL OF
CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR IS EXPECTED TO FURNISH AND INSTALL ALL
ITEMS FOR A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AND PROVIDE ALL REQUIREMENTS
NECESSARY FOR EQUIPMENT TO BE PLACED IN PROPER WORKING ORDER.
15.- CONTRACTOR SHALL GUARANTEE ALL MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND WORKMANSHIP
ARE FREE OF DEFECT FOR A PERIOD OF NO LESS THAN ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF
ACCEPTANCE.
16. ALL MATERIALS, DEVICES OR APPLIANCES SHALL BE LISTED AND BEAR WITH THE
STANDARDS OF UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES (U.L.) OR ANY APPROVED NATIONALLY
RECOGNIZED LABORATORY
17. ALL WORK SHALL COMPLY WITH APPLICABLE SECTIONS OF NEC 517. MEDICAL
EQUIPMENT AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS SHALL CONFORM TO UNIT MANUFACTURERS
INSTALLATION RECOMMENDATIONS.
18. ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF AND COORDINATE WORK
WITH EACH MEDICAL UNIT MANUFACTURER SHOP DRAWINGS, FURNISHED WITH EQUIPMENT,
AND PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL CONDUIT AND /OR WIRING REQUIRED TO ACHIEVE A
COMPLETE AND FULL OPERATIONAL INSTALLATION, INCLUDING COMMUNICATION,
CONTROL AND DATA WIRING.
19. PROVIDE REDUNDANT GROUNDING SERVICE TO ALL MEDICAL EQUIPMENT SYSTEMS, AS
SHOWN AND /OR REQUIRED BY UNIT MANUFACTURER. VERIFY WITH EACH UNIT
REQUIREMENTS.
20. ALL RACEWAYS, PULL BOXES, J- BOXES, GUTTERS, SURFACE AND RECESSED WIREWAYS
SERVING MEDICAL EQUIPMENT SHALL BE METALLIC TYPE, AND ELECTRICALLY AND
MECHANICALLY BONDED PER NEC ART 250 AND 300.
21. FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE JOB AND /OR AS PERMITTED BY THE CIRCUMSTANCES,
ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, ELECTRICAL RM'S, ELECTRICAL CLOSETS AND MEDICAL
EQUIPMENT AREAS ETC., SHALL BE PREPARED TO BE DUST FREE LOCATIONS, BEFORE
