The Police Department to provide transparency and greater accountability has chosen to assign uniformed patrol officers body worn cameras. The cameras will provide audio/visual record of police/citizen contacts which will be mandated by police department policies. The chosen supplier of these cameras will be Taser International and the product chosen is the Axon Body 2. The services provided by this agreement will provide 40 body worn cameras and unlimited data storage via evidence.com. The chosen product the Axon Body 2 provides high definition recording with a 12 hour battery life. After reviewing many different body cameras, Taser provides the products and services required to satisfy the City of South Miami Police Department's needs. City of Miami and City of Miami Beach both acquired the body cameras from Taser. Taser International; is a sole source vendor since all goods and services to complete the needs of this project are only available from one vendor, Taser International. $220,000 over the 5-year period The initial amount of $60,357 to begin the program will be charged to federal forfeiture account 615-1910-521-3450, Police Contractual Services the remaining years of the agreement of approximately $39,432 will be paid from General Fund account 001-615-521-3450, Police Contractual Services. WHEREAS, the police department in order to provide greater transparency with regards to citizen/police encounters; and, WHEREAS, the police department has chosen Taser International to provide body worn cameras and unlimited storage via Evidence.com; and, WHEREAS, this is sole source item because the products and services required to satisfy this agency's needs are only manufactured and available for purchase from Taser International; and, WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission authorize the City Manager to enter into a 5 year agreement with Taser International for an amount not to exceed $220,000 over the terms of the agreement. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT; Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a five year agreement with Taser International in an amount not to exceed $220,000 over the term of the agreement.
