All conditions shall be field verified prior to erection.
1.03 This submittal Is also subject to the review and conceptual
approval of the project engineer and/or architect prior to
erection.
1.04 Adequacy of the primary structure for loads imposed by the cold -
formed framing system Is not the responsibility of Matsen Ford
Design Associates, Inc.
1.05 For specific requirements and warranty information on systems or
materials connected and appurtenant to the cold- Formed steel
framing Includingg windows, caulking and flashings refer to the contract
documents and/of to manufacturer's data. Motsen Ford Design Associates, Inc.
assumes no responsibility for the proper construction or function
1.06 Conditions and or sections encircled thus require special
review by the project architect and/or structural engineer.
Additional project detail information and verification of
conditions are required.
2.00 INSTALLATION
2.01 All framing components shall be cut squarely for attachment to
perpencliculor members or as required for an angular fit against
abutting members. Members shall be held positively in place until
properly fastened.
2.02 Temporary Hracing is the responsibility of the contractor
2.03 All field cutting of studs must be done by sawing or shearing.
Torch cutting of cold- formed members is unacceptable.
2.04 Men required for bridging purposes, framing fabricator is to
ensure pvnchout alignment when assembling framing and field
cutting studs to length. Refer to typical stud/track connection
and indexing detail.
2.05 Splices in studs, joists, or other load carrying members may only be
made where specifically called for in shop drawings. Splices may not
be made at any other sections of these members.
2.06 Where splicing of wall track is necessary between stud spacings, a
flace of stud shall be laced in the adjoining track sections and
astened to the track flan es at both sides of the wall or the
tracks shall be butted tighE together and fastened to structure
either side of the joint.
3.00 CONNECTIONS
3.01 If required, all welded connections are to be performed in accordance
with the latest version of ANS D1.3 Specifications for Welding Sheet
Steel in Structures. Consult ANS DIcI.O Welding Zinc Coated Steel
and ANSI standard Z4a.1 for Information regarding safe welding
procedures. All welds are to be touched -up with a rust inhibitive
galvanizing paint.
3.02 Suelnested weld metal and process for shop welding are: 60 ksi weld
meta- T strength (minimum) - MI6.
3.03 Suggested methods for field welding: 1/8" (unless noted otherwise)
E60XX (minimum) electrode - SMAN, or 'gasless' MI6.
3.04 Minimum weld throat thickness (t) must match or, exceed the base, steel
thickness of the thinnest connected part unless noted otherwise.
3.05 Unless noted otherwise, refer to literature published by HiIti
Fastening Systems, Inc. for expansion bolt, and powder driven
fastener Information. Use I inch minimum embedment for each powder
driven fastener unless noted otherwise. Refer to Buildex, Inc.
technical information for TEK5 screw data. Alternate manufacturer's
fasteners of comparable specifications and load capacities are
acceptable.
4.00 MATERIALS
4.01 All 16 gage and heavier stud 8 joist members shall be formed from steel
meeting the criteria as listed above, with a minimum yield strength
of 50 ksl unless specifically noted otherwise.
4.02 All 18 gage and lighter stud 8 joist members, and all track, bridging, and
accessory items shall be formed from steel meeting the criteria
as listed above, with a minimum yield strength of 33 ksi unless
specifically noted otherwise.
4.03 Structural properties and capacities of steel framing components
shall be in accordance with the A15.1. Cold- Formed Design
Specification.
4.04 All framing products shall be formed from steel possessi a 0-60
zinc coating corresponding to the minimum requirements of ASTM
A525.
4.05 Structural properties used in this submittal are those
published by Dietrich. Other manufacturers with equal or better
structural properties are also acceptable.
