Members shall be held positively in place" vnt;li properly fastened. 2.02 Temporary Brocing is the responsibility of the contractor 2.03 All field cutting of studs must be done by sawing or shearing. Torch cutting of cold - formed members ie unacceptable. 2.04 When required for bridging purposes, framing fabricator is Lo ensure punchout alignment when assemblingg framinngg and field cutting studs to length. Refer to typical stud/track connection and indexing detail. 2.05 Splices in studs, joists, or other load carrying members may only be made where specifically called for in shop drawings. splices may not be made at any other sections of these members. 2.06 Where splicing of wall track is necessary between stud spacings, a lece of stud shall be placed in the adjoining track sections and astened to the track flarloes at both sides of the wall or ale tracks shall be butted tlgh together and fastened to structure either side of the joint. 3.00 GONNEGTIOA15 3.01 If required, all welded connections are to be performed in rte; .ordance with the latest version of AWS ol.3 Specifications for Melding Sheet Steel in Structures. Consult AW5 DiC1.O . Melding 'Zinc Coated Steel and AN51 standard Z4ci"1 for information regarding sor=e welding procedures. All welds are to be touched -up with a rust !nht- hive galvanizing paint. 3.02 Suggested weld metal and process for shop w:eldfnq are:: 60 ksl weld metal strength (minimum) - MI6. 3.03 suggested methods for field welding= 1/8" (tmless noted otherwise) E60XX (minimum) electrode -- SMAW; or "gasless" MIC. 3.04 Minimum weld throat thickness (t) rrruat match or exceed the base steel thickness of the thinnest connected part unless noted othert�ll =-z. 3.05 Unless noted otherwise, refer to literature pubiished by Hilt' f=astening Systems, Inc. for expansion bolt, cnd powder drlvcn fastener information. Use I inch minimum embedment for each powder driven fastener unless noted otherwise. Refer to 13uildex, Inc. technical information for TEK5 screw data. Alternate manufacturer's fasteners of comparable specifications and load capacities are acceptable. 4.00 MATERIALS 4.01 All 16 gage and heavier stud Q joist members shall be formed from steel meeting the criteria as listed above, with a minimum yield strength of 50 ksl unless specifically noted otherwlse. 4.02 All 18 gage and lighter stud 4 joist members, and all track, bridging, and accessory Items shall be formed from steel meeting the criteria as listed above, with a minimum yield strength of 33 ksl unless specifically noted otherwise. 4.03 structural properties and capacities of steal frarrting components shall be in accordance with the A.1.5.1. Gold - Formed Deelgn speclfication. 4.04 All framing products shall be for mec. from steel possessing a 0-60 zinc coating corresponding to the mtnfrmxn, requirements of lvTM A525. 4.05 Structural properties used in this submitta! are those published by Dietrich.
