GENERAL DEMOLITION NOTES:
A. ALL CAPPED DUCT TAPS AND CONNECTING DUCTS THAT ARE NOT
BEING USED ARE TO BE REMOVED BACK TO THE MAIN DUCT AND
PATCHED AS PER ITEM B BELOW.
B. PATCH OPENINGS IN EXISTING DUCTWORK THAT IS TO REMAIN
INCLUDING OPENINGS. WHERE TAPS OR DUCTWORK ARE TO BE
REMOVED, THE FOLLOWING SHALL OCCUR:
• OPENINGS IN THE MAIN DUCTS ARE TO BE COVERED WITH A
SHEET METAL PATCH. THE PATCH IS TO BE LARGER THAN THE
EXISTING OPENING AND IS TO BE SECURED WITH SHEET METAL
SCREWS FOUR INCHES ON CENTERS.
• A LIBERAL QUANTITY OF FIRE RESISTANT ADHESIVE IS TO BE
APPLIED TO THE EDGES OF THE METAL PATCH AND THE
ASSEMBLY SCREWED IN PLACE.
C. ALL WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED IN STRICT COORDINATION WITH HOSPITAL SCHEDULES,
OCCUPANCIES AND WORK. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH HOSPITAL REPRESENTATIVE.
D. ALL NECESSARY SHUTDOWNS OR OUT OF PHASE WORK SHALL BE SCHEDULED WITH THE HOSPITAL
REPRESENTATIVE.
E. FIELD VERIFY THE EXACT SIZES AND LOCATIONS OF ALL EXISTING DUCTWORK AND PIPING
PRIOR TO DEMOLITION OF ANY EXISTING WORK. THE DEMOLITION WORK SHALL BE
COORDINATED WITH THE NEW WORK TO ASSURE PROPER LIMITS OF DEMOLITION.
F. REMOVE ALL EXISTING EQUIPMENT AND ASSOCIATED PIPING, WHETHER SPECIFICALLY
INDICATED OR NOT, THAT IS NO LONGER REQUIRED.
G. REMOVE AND CAP EXISTING BRANCH PIPING AND DUCTWORK NO LONGER REQUIRED TO
REMAIN AS PART OF AN ACTIVE SYSTEM, AT THE APPROPRIATE MAIN. REINSULATE PIPING AND
DUCTWORK THAT HAS MISSING OR DAMAGED INSULATION PER SPECIFICATIONS.
H. ANY PIPING AND DUCTWORK WHICH MUST REMAIN AS PART OF AN ACTIVE SYSTEM AND IS IN
CONFLICT WITH THE NEW LAYOUT SHALL BE RELOCATED AT NO ADDITIONAL COST OVER THE
CONTRACT AMOUNT.
I. ALL EXISTING DIFFUSERS, EQUIPMENT AND PIPING REMOVED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL
REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF THE OWNER AND SHALL BE STORED, REMOVED FROM THE JOB
SITE OR DISPOSED OF AS DIRECTED BY THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
J. WHERE EXISTING EQUIPMENT IS TO BE RELOCATED, EXTREME CARE SHALL BE TAKEN TO
PREVENT DAMAGE DURING THE REMOVAL AND REINSTALLATION. WHERE DAMAGE OCCURS.
THE EQUIPMENT SHALL BE REPLACED OR REPAIRED TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE
ARCHITECT. AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER.
K. ALL EXISTING CEILING DIFFUSERS SHALL BE REUSED, REMOVED AND STORED OR
