NOTES:
1. A VERTICAL DAMPER IS SHOWN. HORIZONTAL DAMPER INSTALLATION IS SIMILAR. FOLLOW DAMPER
MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS, INCLUDING FASTENER OPTIONS AND GAGES FOR SLEEVE AND
PERIMETER ANGLES. FIRE DAMPERS MUST BE INSTALLED IN THE PARTITION OR FLOOR, NOT
OUTSIDE THE PARTITION.
2. GALVANIZED SLEEVE: SLEEVE NOT LESS THAN 16 GAAGE, FASTEN SLEEVE TO PERIMETER ANGLES
ONLY.
3. PERIMETER ANGLES: GALVANIZED STEEL, NOT LESS THAN 1- 1/2 "x1 -1/2 "x14 GAGE, TO PROVIDE
1 INCH MINIMUM OVERLAP OF OPENING ON ALL 4 SIDES. CAULK PERIMETER ANGLES AT PARTITION.
4. BREAKAWAY DUCT CONNECTION: CONTRACTOR'S OPTION OF TYPES PER SMACNA OR MFGRS.
INSTRUCTIONS.
5. ACCESS PANELS: SIZE AND LOCATION TO PERMIT SERVICING THE FUSIBLE UNK OR LINKS.
6. PROVIDE 1/8" PER FOOT CLEARANCE ON HEIGHT AND WIDTH.
7. DAMPER MUST BE WITHIN THE PLANE OF THE PARTITION, DAMPER MAY BE A MAXIMUM OF 12"
OUTSIDE OF THE PARTITION, IF INSTALLED IN A 10 GAUGE SLEEVE.
8. DAMPER AND SLEEVE SHALL BE UL USTED AS AN ASSEMBLY.
NOTES FOR WHEN USING COMBINATION FIRE /SMOKE DAMPERS FOR TRANSFER DUCTS IN FIRE RATED PARTITIONS:
1. PROVIDE 1/2" CLEARANCE AT TOP AND ONE SIDE OF OPENING
FOR DAMPER EXPANSION.
2. RETAINING ANGLES SHALL BE 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x1/8" STEEL
ANGLES SECURED TO SLEEVE WITH 1/2" WELDS 6" O.C. DO NOT
SECURE ANGLES TO PARTITION/WALL ASSEMBLY. PROVIDE
RETAINING ANGLES ON ALL THREE SIDES OF SLEEVE, BOTH SIDES
OF PARTITION /WALL ASSEMBLY.
3. TRANSFER DUCT IS TO BE PROVIDED WITH TRANSFER GRILLES AT
EACH SIDE OF PARTITION WALL
4. TRANSFER DUCT IS TO PROTRUDE SUFFICIENTLY OFF THE WALL TO
ALLOW PROPER DAMPER CLOSURE.
