S v GENERAL DEMOLITION NOTES 1. DEMOLITION KEYNOTES — REFER TO DEMOLITION KEYNOTES FOR'--- SPECIFIC DEMOLITION REQUIREMENTS. SPECIFIC DEMOLITION ITEAdS n ARE NOT TO BE CONSIDERED ALL INCLUSIVE OR COMPLETE IN ^A THEMSELVES. PERFORM ADDITIONAL DEMOLITION THAT MIGHT REASONABLY BE REQUIRED FOR PREPARATION OF INSTALLATION OF NEW CONSTRUCTION OR SPECIFIED FINISHES. DEMOLITION SHALL BE PERFORMED IN A MANNER THAT WILL NOT DAMAGE ADJOINING SURFACES INDICATED TO REMAIN. SURFACES SHALL BE PATCHED IF NECESSARY TO PROVIDE A SUITABLE SUBSTRATE FOR NEW FINISHES. 2. SITE VISIT — PRIOR TO BIDDING, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VISIT THE FACILITY AND THOROUGHLY FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF WITH EXISTING CONDITIONS. NO CLAIMS FOR ADDITIONAL WORK DUE TO OBSERVABLE CONDITIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED. 3. DEMOLITION WORK — CARRY OUT DEMOLITION WORK TO CAUSE AS LITTLE INCONVENIENCE TO ADJACENT OCCUPIED BUILDING AREAS AS POSSIBLE. DEMOLISH IN AN ORDERLY AND CAREFUL MANNER AS REQUIRED TO ACCOMMODATE NEW WORK. PERFORM DEMOLITION IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION. TAKE CARE TO PREVENT DAMAGE AND EXCESSIVE NOISE OR VIBRATION SO AS NOT TO DISTURB ADJACENT OCCUPIED AREAS. ANY OPERATION THAT MAY CAUSE DISTURBANCE TO THE OWNER SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH THE OWNER A MINIMUM OF ONE (1) WEEK IN ADVANCE. SOME WORK MAY REQUIRE PERFORMANCE DURING "OFF HOURS" TO ALLOW OWNER'S FULL USE OF THE OCCUPIED AREAS. 4. SCHEDULING — SCHEDULE DEMOLITION WORK WITH FACILITY ADMINISTRATION PRIOR TO START OF WORK TO MINIMIZE DISRUPTION OF SERVICES AND PROVIDE FOR THE UNINTERRUPTED FUNCTIONING OF THE FACILITY. 5. PROTECTION — EXERCISE CARE DURING WORK TO PROTECT INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR EXISTING CONSTRUCTION TO REMAIN. REPAIR TO EXISTING CONSTRUCTION DUE TO DAMAGE SHALL BE DONE AT NO COST TO THE OWNER. 6. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS — THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY REPORT ANY HAZARDOUS OR TOXIC MATERIALS DISCOVERED TO ARCHITECT, OWNER AND AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION. 7. WHERE OPENINGS ARE CREATED IN EXISTING CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULED TO REMAIN BY DEMOLITION WORK INDICATED HEREIN, SUCH AS REMOVAL OF EXISTING DOORS OR WINDOWS ON WALLS INDICATED TO REMAIN, NEW CONSTRUCTION OF TYPE AND THICKNESS TO MATCH ADJACENT. EXISTING SHALL BE USED TO FILL THOSE OPENINGS AND FINISHES INSTALLED TO MATCH EXISTING UNLESS NEW FINISHES ARE SCHEDULED FOR THOSE SURFACES. 8. WHERE EXISTING SERVICES SUCH AS PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL, MEDICAL GAS, ETC. ARE AFFECTED BY DEMOLITION WORK, SUCH AS REMOVAL OF AN EXISTING PARTITION, THE SERVICES SHALL BE REMOVED TO A POINT WHERE THEY CAN BE CAPPED AND TERMINATED UNLESS OTHERWISE SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS OF THE SPECIFIC DISCIPLINE AFFECTED. 9. WHERE NEW FINISHES ARE SCHEDULED FOR EXISTING OR RENOVATED SPACES, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE EXISTING FINISHES AND PREPARE SUBSTRATES TO RECEIVE NEW FINISHES AS SCHEDULED. PREPARATION OF SUBSTRATES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING IF DEEMED REQUIRED BY THE ARCHITECT: — PATCHING AND /OR LEVELING OF FLOOR SLAB. — SKIM COATING OF GYPSUM WALLBOARD SURFACES — SANDING OF METAL FRAMES, ETC. 10. CUTTING AND PATCHING REQUIRED FOR THE INSTALLATION OF WORK OF OTHER TRADES SHALL BE PROVIDED AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER. REFER TO MECHANICAL, PLUMBING, FIRE PROTECTION, MEDICAL GAS AND ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS. SUCH CUTTING AND PATCHING INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, ROOF PENETRATIONS AND FLASHINGS, CEILING REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT, CUTTING AND PATCHING OF DRYWALL AND MASONRY PARTITIONS, CONCRETE FLOORS, ETC. 11. WHERE DEMOLITION WOULD AFFECT THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRETY OF THE BUILDING, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TEMPORARY SUPPORTS. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY ARCHITECT OF ANY FIED CONDITION WHICH WOULD PRESENT A HAZARDOUS CONDITION TO THE STRUCTURE OR ITS OCCUPANTS, BEFORE PROCEEDING. DO NOT PERFORM STRUCTURAL DEMOLITION UNTIL APPROVED MEANS OF SUPPORT IS INSTALLED. 12. REMOVE AND REINSTALL EXISTING CEILING GRID AS REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, FIRE PROTECTION AND PLUMBING. 1. EXISTING WALL RATING TO BE UPGRADED. REFER TO ARCHITECTURAL PLAN FOR NEW RATING REQUIREMENTS. 35. CUT OPENING IN EXISTING MASONRY WALL FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW EXHAUST LOUVER. PROVIDE NEW LINTEL AS REQUIRED. PATCH FLOOR, BASE, WALLS AND CEILING TO MATCH ADJACENT SURFACES TO REMAIN. 80. REMOVE EXISTING DOOR, FRAME AND HARDWARE. TURN OVER TO OWNER OR DISPOSE AT HIS REQUEST. 90.
