Comply with Architect's requirements for submittals. B. Provide types of submittals listed in individual sections and in number of copies required below. 1. Shop drawings, reviewed, annotated and stamped approved by the Contractor - submit three blackline prints, 2. Product data - 6 copies, reviewed, annotated and stamped approved by the Contractor. Product data shall include complete specifications, performance data, certified laboratory test report data, installation instructions, health and safety precautions, and maintenance instructions, and shall show illustrated capacities, characteristics, wiring diagrams, controls and other pertinent information for complete product and product use description. If more than one size or type is shown on any printed sheet, indicate clearly intended item(s), See mechanical, plumbing and electrical sections for particular submittal requirements, 3. Samples - 2, plus extra samples as required to indicate range of color, finish, and texture to be expected. 4. Mock -ups - as required in the technical specification. 5. Inspection and test reports - 4 copies. 6. Warranties - 4 copies. 7. Closeout submittals - 4 copies. C. Provide required re- submittals; provide distribution of approved copies, including copy to owner. D. Samples and shop drawings shall be prepared specifically for this project. Shop drawings shall include dimensions and details, including adjacent construction. E. Provide warranties as specified; warranties shall not limit length of time for remedy of damages Owner may have by legal statute. Warranties shall be signed by Manufacturer and Contractor. F. Provide products selected or approved equal. Products submitted for substitution shall be submitted with acceptable documentation. Include costs of substitution including related work. G. Substitutions shall be submitted prior to award of contract, unless otherwise acceptable to the Owner. H. Submittals shall be representative of the product or material being submitted. Manufacturer's literature shall be for the submitted product only. Manufacturer's standard catalogues or multi page documents of which only a small portion represent the submitted product shall have all irrelevant information "X'd" out or otherwise omitted and the submitted product or information clearly circled or otherwise highlighted, Exact model type and optional features shall be checked off and clearly indicated. Shop drawings shall not include details or information that is not relevant to the project. Submittals received that are not prepared as noted here may be returned without review at the Architect's discretion. I. Shop drawings and submittals shall be provided in triplicate copy. The Architect will clearly note comments in red pen or pencil on one copy and shall then photocopy said copy in triplicate. The Architect will highlight (yellow highlighter) all " redmarks" on the three photocopies, and the red - marked set and two copies will be returned to the Contractor. The Architect will not transfer original redmarks to multiple copies. J. Submittals received without Contractor's required stamp of approval, indicating that he has reviewed and approved the submittal for conformance with the Contract documents will be returned without review. Said stamp shall include the language "Approved for submittal in accordance with the contract documents ", the General Contractor's name, and a space for Contractor's personnel to sign and date. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. K. The Architect shall review the Contractor's submittals such as Shop Drawings, Product Data and Samples, but only for conformance with the design concept of the Work and with the information given in the Contract Documents. The Architect's review of a specific item shall not imply review of an assembly of which the item is a component. L. By approving and submitting Shop Drawings, Product Data and Samples, the Contractor represents that he has determined and verified all materials, field measurements, and field construction criteria related thereto, or will do so, and that he has checked and coordinated the information contained within such submittals with the requirements of the Work and of the Contract Documents. The Architect will be allowed to rely on this representation in his approval of submittals. M. The Architect will use the following grading on all submittals: 1. SUBMITTAL REVIEWED: No corrections, no marks. 2. SUBMITTAL REVIEWED, SUBJECT TO NOTATIONS: Minor amount of corrections; all items can be fabricated without further corrections to original submittal; review is complete and all corrections are deemed obvious without ambiguity. No resubmission required. 3. SUBMITTAL REVIEWED IN PART, RESUBMIT ITEMS NOTED: Minor corrections; noted items must not be fabricated without further corrections; review is not complete; details of items noted are to be clarified further before completion of architect ±s review, 4. SUBMITTAL REJECTED, REVISE and RESUBMIT: Submittal is rejected as not in accordance with the Contract, too many corrections, or other justifiable reasons. When returning drawing, Architect will state reasons for rejection. Correct and resubmit. Do not fabricate. 5. SUBMITTAL REJECTED, PRODUCT UNACCEPTABLE: Product submittal is not accepted as an equal to specifications. Resubmit acceptable product. Architect will state reasons for rejection. The Contractor shall be fully responsible for delay in the work caused by late approval of shop drawings due to failure to submit, revise, or resubmit shop drawings in adequate time to allow the Architect reasonable time (two (2) weeks) for checking and processing of each submission or re- submission. The Owner will em 110 and pay directly for the services of an independent testing laboratory to perform testing and inspection services described in the various specification sections. However, costs of testing unsuitable materials and work shall be billed, and paid by, the Contractor, as specified under GENERAL CONDITIONS. B. The Contractor shall fully cooperate with laboratory personnel, and shall furnish all necessary labor and facilities to assist in securing and storing samples, making tests, etc. The Contractor shall notify the testing laboratory sufficiently in advance of the various operations to allow for assignment of personnel and scheduling of tests. C. Such testing and inspection by the Owner shall not relieve the Contractor of any of his responsibilities under the Contract. The Owner shall furnish without charge to the Contractor electrical energy from existing facilities within the existing building for light and power. Take off point(s) from existing panelboard(s) for 110V and 208V service will be as directed by Owner, B. The Contractor shall provide all additional temporary facilities, such as temporary wiring, lighting fixtures, etc., at his own expense for the use of all trades until time of substantial completion of the project, and shall remove all such temporary facilities at completion of the work. All temporary electric light and power facilities shall conform to governing laws and building code. C. The furnishing of electrical energy by the Owner without charge shall be contingent upon the Contractor being conservative and prudent in its use. In the event the Contractor is repeatedly wasteful of electrical energy, the Owner reserves the right to meter the electricity and bill the Contractor at a reasonable rate for the energy used. D. Shut -downs of existing electrical system shall not be performed during hours of Owner's normal building use. See Special Conditions; paragraph UID for requirement to schedule all shutdowns with Owner. A. The Owner will furnish without charge to the Contractor water from existing facilities at the site for drinking, construction, testing, cleaning, and other uses, during construction. Existing plumbing facilities within the work areas may be used as a source of water for this purpose, B. The Contractor shall provide all additional temporary facilities, such as temporary piping, valves, hoses, storage vessels, etc., at his own expense for the use of all trades and shall remove all such facilities at substantial completion of the work. All temporary water facilities shall conform to all the governing laws and building code. C. The furnishing of water by the Owner without charge shall be contingent upon the Contractor being conservative and prudent in its use. In the event the Contractor is repeatedly wasteful of water, the Owner reserves the right to meter the water and bill the Contractor at the current utility rate for the water used. 1.04 TEMPORARY SANITARY FACILITIES A. The Contractor may use a designated toilet room in the existing building for workmen employed in the work, as directed by the Owner. B. The toilet room shall be kept clean at all times and great care should be exercised to prevent damage to the existing facilities. Upon completion the facilities shall be restored to their original condition. 1.05 TEMPORARY FIRE PROTECTION A. The Contractor shall take all necessary precautions for the prevention of fire during construction. He shall be responsible that the area within the contract limits is kept orderly and clean and that combustible rubbish is promptly removed from the site. Combustible materials shall be stored on the site in a manner and at locations approved by the Owner. The Contractor shall comply with all suggestions regarding fire protection made by the insurance company with which the Owner maintains his fire insurance, B. The Contractor shall provide and maintain in good working order, under all conditions, readily available to all portions of the site and work, suitable and adequate fire protection equipment and services, including, but not limited to, a minimum of two standard, Underwriter's Laboratories labeled, 20 lb type A /B /C fire extinguishers, in good working order, in the area of the work. Follow Factory Mutual guidelines for actual quantity for the size of the project. C. Smoking shall be prohibited on the premises and signs to this effect shall be posted conspicuously. D. Fires shall not be built on the premises. 1.06 TEMPORARY STAGING and SCAFFOLDING A. The Contractor shall be responsible to assure that all staging and scaffolding for all trades are erected and maintained in safe condition, as required. This shall not limit the Contractor's right to require certain trades to provide and maintain their own staging and scaffolding as he sees fit. B. Staging and scaffolding shall comply in all respects to requirements of the governing laws and building code. 1.07 TEMPORARY STAIRS, LADDERS, RAMPS, PLATFORMS, ETC. A. The Contractor shall provide and maintain all necessary temporary stairs, ladders, ramps, platforms, and other temporary construction required for the proper execution of the work, all of which shall comply with requirements of the governing laws and building code. iR; 01•1:1Li71:L•mxy(iLO k A. Locations, layout, and quantities of construction barriers shall at all times be sub1'ect to Owner's approval, but such approval, or lack of inspection or approval, by the Owner, shall not be construed as relieving the Contractor of any of his responsibilities under the Contract. Layout of barriers shall allow for legal egress of employees, patients, and construction workers, at all times. 2. Block or filter mechanical return air systems in a safe manner, in cooperation with mechanical trade, between areas where dust causing work is being carried out and other interior areas of the existing building to prevent passage of dirt and dust. Do not allow dust to enter the return air system, 3.
