1. Wall Assembly - The 1 or 2 hr fire -rated gypsum wallboard/stud wall assembly stall be constructed
of the materials and in the manner described In the Individual U300 or U400 Series W311 or Partition
Designs in the UL Fire Resistance Directory and shall include the following construction features:
A. Studs - Wan framing may consist of either wood studs or steel channel studs. Wood studs t0
consist of nom 2 by 4 in. lumber spaced 16 in. OC with nom 2 by 4 In. lumber end plates and cross
braces. Steel skids to be min 3 -5/8 In. wide by 1 -3/8 In. deep channels spaced max 24 In OC.
B. Gypsum Board= - Nom 112 or 5/8 In. thick, 4 ft wide with square or tapered edges. The gypsum
wallboard type, thickness, number of lagers and street orientation shall be as specified In the Individual
Wail or Partition Design. palm of Circular through opening to be 3/8 In. to 5/8 In. larger than outside
diem of cable or cable bundle.
C. Fasteners - When wood stud framing Is employed gypsum wallboard layers attached to studs
with Cement coated nails as specified In the In divktharl Wan or Partition Design. When steel channel stud
framing Is employed, gypsum wallboard attached to studs with Type S self-drilling, self-tapping
bugle -head steel screws as specified M the individual Wan or Partition Design.
The hourly F Rating of the fir estop system Is equal to the hourly fire rating of the wall
assembly In which it Is installed.
2. Cables - Individual cable or max i In. diam cable bundle Installed In through opening with an
annular space of min 0 In. (point Contact) to max 3/4 in. Cable to be rigidly supported on both sides of
wan assembly. The following types and sizes of cables may be used:
A. Max 150 pair No. 24 AWG copper conductor telephone cable with poWnp4 chlorite (PVC Insulation
and jacket materials. When max 25 pair telephone cable B used,
• Rating Is 2 hr.When 50 to 150 pair telephone cable Is used in 1 hr fire rated wail,

C Multiple fiber optical communication cable jacketed with PVC and having a max cutSWe diam of

polyeethyliene (XLPE) Insulation and XLPE or PVC Jacket materials.

ASSOCIATED WITH THE SMOKE COMPARTMENT WHERE THE ALARM iS ORIGINATED FROM, SHALL BE CLOSED,
UPON ACTIVATION OF ANY FIRE SPRINKLER FLOW SWITCH, THE FOLLOWING SHALL OCCUR, IN ADDITION
TO THE ABOVE:
THE WATER FLOW BELL SHALL ACTIVATE UPON WATER FLOWING ONLY.
THE WATER FLOW BELL SHALL CONTINUE TO SOUND AS LONG AS WATER iS FLOWING.
THE WATER FLOW BELL SHALL NOT BE SILENCEABLE FROM THE FRCP.
THE EXISTING WATER FLOW BELL IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE FIRE ALARM PANEL (LOCAL 120VAC).

1. ELEVATORS SHALL RECALL TO THE PRIMARY LEVEL OF EGRESS.
2. WARNING SIGN SHALL ILLUMINATE.
UPON ACTIVATION OF THE ELEVATOR LOBBY SMOKE DETECTOR AT THE PRIMARY LEVEL
OF EGRESS, THE FOLLOWING SHALL OCCUR, IN ADDITION TO ABOVE:
1. ELEVATORS SHALL RECALL TO THE ALTERNATE LEVEL OF EGRESS.
2. WARNING SiGN SHALL ILLUMINATE.
UPON ACTIVATION OF THE ELEVATOR MACHINE ROOM SMOKE DETECTOR, THE FOLLOWING
SHALL OCCUR, IN ADDITION TO ABOVE:
1. ELEVATORS SHALL RECALL TO THE PRIMARY LEVEL OF EGRESS.
2. WARNING SIGN SHALL BLINK.
UPON ACTIVATION OF A TAMPER SWITCH, THE FOLLOWING SHALL OCCUR.
1. A SUPERVISORY SIGNAL SHALL BE SENT TO THE FACP & REMOTE ANNUNCIATOR.
2. A SUPERVISORY SIGNAL SHALL BE SENT TO THE OWNERS REMOTE STATION ViA DACT.
UPON ACTIVATION OF A DUCT SMOKE DETECTOR, THE FOLLOWING SHALL OCCUR.
1. A SUPERVISORY SIGNAL SHALL BE SENT TO THE FACP & REMOTE ANNUNCIATOR.
2. A SUPERVISORY SIGNAL SHALL BE SENT TO THE OWNERS REMOTE STATION VIA DACT.
1 THE AIR HANDLER UNiT ASSOCIATED WiTH THAT DUCT DETECTOR SHALL SHUT DOWN.
UPON ACTIVATION OF A ELEVATOR HEAT DETECTOR LOCATED IN THE MACHINE ROOM
THE FOLLOWING SHALL OCCUR.
1. A SUPERVISORY SiGNAL SHALL BE SENT TO THE FACP & REMOTE ANNUNCIATOR.
2. A SUPERVISORY SIGNAL SHALL BE SENT TO THE OWNERS REMOTE STATION VIA DACT.
1 THE SIGNAL WILL BE SENT TO THE SHUNT SWITCH FOR POWER SHUTDOWN.
NOTES:
1- REFER TO ENGINEER DRAWINGS FOR EXACT QUANTITY, LOCATION AND PLACEMENT OF DEVICES.
2- CONNECT NEW ADDRESSABLE DEVICES TO NEW SLC DATA LOOP OR TO EXISTING DATA LOOP WITH
AVAILABLE POINTS
3- THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE SiZE REQUIREMENTS OF ALL BOXES, RACEWAYS AND TERMINAL
CABINETS AND ASSURE THEIR CONFORMANCE TO NEC.
