1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THAT CONSTRUCTION OF EXISTING WALLS MEETS THE FIRE PROTECTION RATINGS
DESIGNATED ON THESE DRAWINGS. HE SHALL ALSO MAKE ANY REPAIRS OR MODIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO BRING EXISTING
WALLS, DOORS, DUCTS, ETC. UP TO THE PROPER INDICATED FIRE PROTECTION RATING. DOORS AND /OR FRAMES NOT
MEETING RATING REQUIREMENTS OR BEARING PROPER LABELS SHALL BE REPLACED.
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BRACE ALL EXISTING STRUCTURES AND ALL STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS AS NECESSARY TO
PRESERVE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY DURING DEMOLITION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT CUT STRUCTURAL WORK IN A
MANNER RESULTING IN A REDUCTION OF LOAD CARRYING CAPACITY OR LOAD/DEFLECTiON RATIO. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT OF ALL STRUCTURAL CUTS PRIOR TO EXECUTION SO THAT APPROVAL CAN BE OBTAINED FROM THE
ARCHITECT AND STRUCTURAL ENGINEER.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THAT EXIT EGRESS IS MAINTAINED FOR ALL OCCUPIED AREAS OF THE BUILDING
THROUGHOUT ALL PHASES OF CONSTRUCTION.
4. REMOVE EXISTING CONSTRUCTION AS INDICATED. TYPICAL WALL REMOVAL INCLUDES MECHANICAL, PLUMBING,
COMMUNICATIONS, INFORMATION SYSTEMS, AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS CONTAINED THEREIN. REMOVE DOORS, CASEWORK,
WINDOWS, FRAMES, FINISHES AND OTHER FIXTURES AS REQUIRED.
AFTER REMOVAL OF PIPE CHASES, PATCH HOLES IN EXISTING FLOORS OR WALLS TO REMAIN TO MEET ORIGINAL FIRE
PROTECTION AND STRUCTURAL REQUIREMENTS. PATCH ADJOINING WALLS, FLOOR, AND DECK. PREPARE SURFACES TO
RECEIVE NEW FINISH PER FINISH SCHEDULE (WHERE NEW FINISHES ARE CALLED FOR ON EXISTING SURFACES, REMOVE THE
EXISTING FINISH AND PREPARE SURFACE TO RECEIVE THE NEW FINISH)
5. COORDINATE DEMOUTiON AND LOCATION OF G.C. DUMPSTER WITH HOSPITAL P.M. G.C. SHALL NOT USE HOSPITAL'S
DUMPSTERS NOR USE ANY OF THE HOSPITAL'S WASTE DISPOSAL CONTAINERS OR SYSTEMS FOR DISPOSAL OF
CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AND DEBRIS. DEBRIS SHALL NOT ACCUMULATE AT THE PROJECT SITE LOCATION AND SHALL BE
CARTED OFF FOLLOWING DAILY WORK IN ACCORD WITH OWNER'S I.C.R.A. POLICY.
6. IN ACCORD WITH MEP DRAWINGS REMOVE ALL DESIGNATED ELECTRICAL FIXTURES AND ALL ELECTRICAL DROPS IN
EXISTING PARTITIONS AND AREAS OF DEMOLITION.
7. ALL ITEMS INDICATED TO BE STORED FOR REUSE ARE TO BE STORED AS DIRECTED BY THE OWNER'S P.M.
8. THE DEMOU71ON CONTRACTOR IS TO FIELD VERIFY ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS AND CROSS REFERENCE TO THE
DEMOLITION DOCUMENTS. IF ANY CONFLICT IS DISCOVERED, THE ARCHITECT MUST BE NOTIFIED PRIOR TO BID OR
DEMOLITION COMMENCEMENT. IF DISCOVERED AFTER DEMOLITION HAS COMMENCED, WORK WILL STOP IN THE CONFLICT AREA
UNTIL THE ARCHITECT HAS REVIEWED THE CONFLICT.
9. THE DEMOLITION DRAWINGS FOR ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING WORK HAVE BEEN PREPARED USING DESIGN
DOCUMENTS PROVIDED BY THE OWNER. ACTUAL CONDITIONS AT THE SITE MAY VARY. THE DEMOLITION WORK IS
INTENDED TO SHOW THE GENERAL SCOPE OF DEMOLITION WORK AND IN NO WAY RELIEVES THE CONTRACTOR FROM
PROVIDING ANY AND ALL DEMOLITION REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE NEW WORK.
10. REROUTE OR CAP, AS REQUIRED, ALL CONCEALED WIRING, PIPING, OR OTHER UTILITIES WITHIN EXISTING AREAS TO BE
DEMOLISHED AS PER TRADE STANDARDS AND APPLICABLE CODES.
11. REFER TO ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR AND
REFINISHING OF EXISTING BUILDING SYSTEMS OR COMPONENTS TO REMAIN THAT ARE DISTURBED OR OTHERWISE LEFT
UNFINISHED BY THE DEMOLITION WORK,
12. REVIEW AND IMPLEMENT ALL I.C.R.A. REQUIREMENTS AS PROVIDED BY THE OWNER. LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF NOISE AND
DUST POLLUTION WITHIN THE CONSTRUCTION AREA BY INSTALLING TEMPORARY ENCLOSURES AND BARRIERS SPECIFIED AS
REQUIRED BY HOSPITAL'S I.C.R.A. POLICY TO MAINTAIN OCCUPANCY AND USE OF SPACES IN EXISTING AREAS OF THE
BUILDING 24 HOURS PER DAY. THE EXACT LOCATION ANC QUANTITY OF TEMPORARY PARTITIONS REQUIRED IS TO BE
DETERMINED BY HOSPITAL'S I.C.R.A. POLICY. ALL TEMPORARY PARTITIONS SEPARATING OCCUPIED AREAS FROM
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY SHALL BE 1 —HOUR FIRE RATED. WHERE POLYETHYLENE MEMBRANE IS USED IT SHALL BE U.L.
RATED, 1 —HOUR FIRE RATED.
13. DURING THE ENTIRE PERIOD OF DEMOLITION AND CONSTRUCTION, ALL EXISTING EXITS AND EXIT LIGHTING ARE TO
REMAIN. FIRE PROTECTIVE DEVICES AND FIRE ALARMS SHALL BE MAINTAINED.
14. ALL EXISTING AREAS TO REMAIN AND EXISTING AREAS AFFECTED BY DEMOLITION OR NEW CONSTRUCTION WORK AS
SHOWN ON DRAWINGS SHALL BE PATCHED AS REQUIRED TO MATCH IMMEDIATE ADJACENT AREAS IN CONSTRUCTION,
MATERIAL, FIRE RATING, FINISH AND COLOR, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. WORK TO BE DONE TO LOGICAL EDGES OF
SURFACES AFFECTED.
15. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING OR PATCHING ANY DAMAGE WHICH MAY OCCUR DURING
DEMOLITION ACTIVITIES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPLACE OR REPAIR ANY EXISTING TO REMAIN FINISHES, ETC., WHICH
ARE DAMAGED DURING DEMOLITION (I.E. — CEILING GRID, CEILING TILE, WALL COVERINGS, FLOOR COVERINGS, CORNER
GUARDS, WALL GUARDS, HANDRAILS, CHAIR RAIL, MOLDINGS, ETC.) REPAIRS TO BE DONE TO LOGICAL EDGES OF
SURFACES AFFECTED.
16. IF ANY EXISTING FIRE PROOFING OR FIRE ASSEMBLIES WHICH ARE SUPPOSED TO REMAIN ARE DAMAGED DURING
DEMOLITION, THEY SHALL BE REPAIRED TO CONFORM TO ORIGINAL FIRE PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS. CONTACT ARCHITECT
TO VERIFY U.L. ASSEMBLIES TO BE USED FOR REPAIRS.
17. THE DEMOLITION CONTRACTOR SHALL ADHERE TO ANY /ALL REQUIREMENTS AS PROVIDED BY BAPTIST HEALTH, ET. AL.
CONCERNING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DEBRIS REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL, CONSTRUCTION WORK PATH AND RESTRICTIONS,
ACCEPTABLE WORKING HOURS AND NOISE LEVELS, PROTECTION OF NON - CONSTRUCTION AREAS, MITIGATION OF AIRBORN
DUST AND PARTICULATES (I.C.R.A.), AND ANY /ALL WORK PROCEDURES REQUIRED BY THE HOSPITALS' CONSTRUCTION
SERVICE DEPARTMENT. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR TO LEARN OF, COORDINATE, AND
IMPLEMENT THESE PROCEDURES PRIOR TO AND THROUGHOUT CONSTRUCTION.
18. WHERE EXISTING CONSTRUCTION IS FOUND TO CONTAIN ASBESTOS, NOTIFY THE OWNER AND THE ARCHITECT iN
WRITING. REMOVAL., DISPOSAL AND REPLACEMENT OF THE ASBESTOS MATiRAL SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH FEDERAL,
