SITE INVESTIGATION.
BEFORE BIDDING, CONTRACTOR SHALL PERFORM A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION OF
ACTUAL CONDITIONS AT THE JOB SITE AND INCLUDE ALL WORK REQUIRED TO
INTRODUCE SYSTEM COMPONENTS INTO EXISTEM STRUCTURES AND TO CONNECTOR
MODIFY EXISTING SYSTEMS AS INDICATED ON DRAWINGS OR NECESSITATED BY THE
INSTALLATION PERFORM ALL SUCH WORK WITHOUT ADDITIONS TO THE CONTRACT COST.
WHERE INDICATE ON DRAWINGS REMOVE OR RELOCATE EXISTEM SYSTEM
COMPONENTS AND PROPERLY PATCH AND FINISH RESULTING OPENINGS IN THE
BUILDINGS STRUCTURE WITH THE SAME MATERIAL AS THOSE ADJACENTS TO THE
OPENING,
DUCTS.
FLEXIBLE DUCTS SHALL BE INSTALLED FULLY EXTENDED THE TOTAL EXRENDED
LENGTH OF DUCT MATERIAL AHALL NOT EXCEED 5 PORCENT OF MINIMUM REQUIRED
LENGTH FOR THAT RUN.
BENDS SHALL MAINTAIN A CENTER LINER RADIUS OF NOT LESS THAN ONE DUCT
DIAMETER.
TERMINAL DEVICES SHALL BE SUPPORTED AT INTERVALS NOT OF THE FLEXIBLE
1MONTAL DUCT SHALL BE SUPPORTED AT INTERVALS NOT GREATER THAN 5 FEET.
SUPPORTS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITHIN 1.5 FEET OF INTERMEDIATE FITTING AND
BENDS.
SADDLES AND OTHER MATERIAL SUPPORTING FLEXIBLE DUCTS THAT IS IN DIRECT
CONTACT WITH IT SHALL BE 1.5 INCHES WIDE MINIMUM.
EXHAUST NOTES.
1- ALL EXHAUST DUCTS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF SHEET METAL, TERMINATE
OUTSIDE THE BULDING AND BE EQUIPPED WITH A BACKDRAFT DAMPER
2- DUCTS FROM TOILET ROOMS SHALL DISCHARGE TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING,
SHALL BE TERMINATED NOT LESS THAN ro INCHES ABOVE THE FINISHED ROOF
SURFACE AND SHALL BE SCREENED WITH A CORROSION RESISTANT MATERIAL
HAVING A MESH SIZE NOT LARGER THAN 1/2 INCHE. PROVIDE GOOSE NECK OR RAIN
CAP ON ROOF TERMINATIONS.
3- CLOTHES DRYER EXHAUST DUCT SHALL NOT BE SCREENED.
4- CLOTHES DRYERS EXHAUST DUCTS ( OR VENTS ) SHALL COMPLY WITH
MANUFACTURER' S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS BE CONSTRUCTED OF A MINIMUM
OF 26 GAGE METAL PIPE, HAVING A SMOOTH INTERIOR SURFACE WITH JOINT RUNNING
IN THE DIRECTION OF THE AIR FLOW.
DUCT JOINTS SHALL NOT BE ASSEMBLED WITH SHEET METAL SCREWS OR OTHER
FASTENERS WHICH WOULD EXTEND INTO THE DUCT.
