Valve Boxes -. Valve boxes shall Ametek model 10 -130 -001 with model 10 -130 -041 cover,
with a tensile strength of 3400 PSI, an impact strength of.6 ft. Ilk /in., and a deflection
temperature of 230 degrees F.

Control Wire - Shall be 14 gauge single strand wire as manufactured by Paige or
approved equal. Splices shall be enclosed in a 3M Splice Kit.
E.
Remaining Materials - Remaining materials shall conform to the material schedule on
the plans.
IV. INSTALLATION
A.
L. ayout - All heads and piping will be laid out according to the irrigation plans Adjust 4
pipe layouts as required due to site conditions prior to excavation. Locate valves to
assure ease of access for maintenance.

Trenching - Pressure pipe will be buried li" below grade and circuit pipe will be buried
12" below grade. Trenches shall be excavated of sufficient width to permit proper
handling and installation of the pipe. The backfill shall be thoroughly compacted el ery
three inches and evened off with the adjacent soil level. Compaction of eacb lift shall be
equal to 100% of maximum density as determined by AAS11TO Specification T -99 The
fill dirt or sand shall be used in filling four inches above the pipe The remainder of the
backfill shall be free of rocks over one inch, subsoil or trash. The All trenches that are
opened during any particular working day shall be closed and backfilled the same day.
No open trenches shall be left overnight.
C.
Existing Utilities and Structures- The contractor shall determine the exact location of
all existing utilities, structures and underground utilities that may not be indicated on
the drawings. The contractor shall conduct his work so as to prevent interruption of
service or damage to them. The contractor shall protect existing structures and utility
services and be responsible for their replacement if damaged by him, or to make
necessary adjustments in their location 1f required in order to complete the work of this
contract. Minor adjustments in the system will be permitted to clear existing fixed
obstructions subject to the approval or the Owner and /or Landscape Architect. The
contractor shall verify at this time the gallonage and pressure to be expected from the
city water meter.
D.
Fastening rye - Clean fitting and pipe end. Apply primer and then two coats of cement
to both. Force pipe into fitting and rotate one quarter turn. Hold in place one minute
and cure for 30 minutes Do not fasten pipe when temperatures are not between 60 to
100 degrees or when raining.
E.
Flush Lines & Pressure Test - Prior to installing heads, flush all lines with the maximum
water pressure. Pressure test lines for 4 hours at 150 %(75 PSI) of the system's
operating pressure.
F.
Heads - Set sprinkler heads perpendicular to finished grade. Heads adjacent to curbs
and walks shall be from one halrto one inch away from the curb or walk. Risers shall b1
set at specified height above finished grade. Pop Up sprinklers shall be set 4" above
finished grade and adjusted to finished grade after all planting is complete. Adjust head
patterns and radius for proper distribution and coverage.
G.
Control Valves - Control Valves shall be installed in an Ametek model 10- 130 -001
access box with model 10- 130-041 cover and positioned over the valve so that all parts of
the valve can he reached for service.
H.
Controller Nk Wirint - Install controller as per manufacturer's specifications Wire
connections to remote control electric valves, and splices of wire in the field shall be
made only in valve boxes in the following manner, using Rainbird Pentite Connectors
and Sealer:
1. Strip ends of wirer and push wires through the holes of the base socket.
2. Twist wires together and mechanically bond together, using crimp sleeve and .
crimping pliers
3. Pull wire connection back into base socket as afar as possible.
4. Apply sealer to Inside of base socket and fill cavity completely.
5. Push sealing plug into base socket, using a slight twisting motion, until it bottoms.
f. Push wires down into the base socket as far as they will go, without unseating the
sealing plug. This assures the sealer completely sealing and waterproofing the
connection.

Cleaninc -Keep premises clean during construction and after completion remove all
debris from the site and appropriately dispose.

SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION
A.
Substantial Completion -At completion of the installation, the Owner or Landscape
Architect shall schedule a Inspection of the work and Ifthe work is determined to be
Substantially complete, will issue a punch list of items to be completed prior to final
acceptance. Punch list. Items must be completed within two weeks of their issuance.
Once completed a final inspections shall be scheduled by the Owner or Landscape
Architect.
VI. WARRANTIES
A.
Guarantee --The Contractor shall guarantee all irrigation work for a period of one (1)
year alter Substantial Completion. Provisional acceptance shall be issued in writing by
the Owner or his designated representative upon completion of all irrigation work.

,!Lets of God - Irrigation work, which is damaged by Acts of God, is not subject to the
above warranties. Such Acts of God shall include hurricanes, tornadoes, or freeze. In
order to claim such warranty exceptions, the Contractor shall submit published record
ofthe nearest official U.S. Weather station, which shall substantiate the occurrence of
the above phenomena.
C.
