14-184R-007O D ACCESS - CONTROLLED EGRE55 DOORS NFPA -101 (7.2. I .G.2 - 2009 Edition) Egress Access - Control System shall meet all the following criteria: (1) A sensor shall be provided on the egress side, arranged to detect an occupant approaching doors that are arranged to unlock in the direction of egress upon detection of an approaching occupant or loss power to the sensor. . (2) Loss of power to the part of the access control system that locks the door shall automatically unlock the doors in the direction of egress. (3) The doors shall be arranged to unlock in the direction of egress from a manual release device located 40 in. to 48 in. vertically above the floor and within GO in. of the secured doors. (4) The manual release device specified in 7.2. 1 .G.3(3) shall be readily. accessible and clearly identified by a sign that reads as follow: PU5H TO EXIT. (5) When operated, the manual release device shall result in direct interruption of power to the lock - independent of the access control system electronics - and the doors shall remain unlocked for not less than 30 seconds. (G) Activation of the building fire - protective signaling system, if provided, shall automatically unlock the doors in the direction of egress, and the: doors shall remain unlocked until the fire - protective signaling system has been manually reset. (7) The activation of manual fire alarm boxes that activate the building fire-protective signaling system specified in 7.2. 1 .G.2(G) shall not be rectuired to unlock the doors. (8) Activation of the building automatic sprinkler or the fire detection system, if provided, shall automatically unlock the doors in the direction of egress, and the doors shall remain unlocked until the fire- ptotective signaling system has been manually reset. PRE - ACTION 5Y5TEM / 5EQUENCE OF OPERATIONS - Double Interlocked Systems shall be designed so that the Valve will actuate only in the event of "Multiple Fire Detection" by the release mechanisms. If a single release event occurs, audio and visual signals shall be generated on all areas of the building by means of Horn / Strobe devices but the Valve will not operated and water will not flow until a second release event is detected. (Double Interlocked are commonly used in systems where water entering the sprinkler system 15 critical as well as when accidental discharge of water is critical). - Pneumatic / Electric Release: The Pneumatic / Electric Pre - Action System uses both an Electric Release System (composed of an approved 5olenoid Valve, a Control Releasing Panel and an appropriate Smoke Detector), and Pneumatically Pressurized 5prinkler System. The Vlctaullc series 7G9 actuated Valve will activate only when 1s a pressure loss in the 5prinkler System and the Electric Detection of the release event. In the event of a loss of pressure in the 5prinkler System without an electric detection the valve will not actuate until a second release event 1s detected, in this way if there is accidental damage to the 5prinkler System no water will flow. Additionally, if there is an electric detection and no pressure loss in the 5prinkler System the Valve will not actuate. General Alarm (audio signal, visual signal, alarm signal report to the U.L. designated Central 5tatlon) will be generated in both cases. ELEVATOR RECALL — Sequence of Operation A. Smoke Detectors in elevator lobbies, and or elevator machine room shall: 1. Initiate an alarm condition at the panel. 2. Initiate the recall of the elevator cars as follows in accordance with NFPA 72 (2007 edition), Chapter 6.16.3. B. Phase I recall: Any elevator lobby smoke detector located on floors 2 and above and /or any smoke detector in the elevator machine or elevator hoistway shall initiate phase I recall which will bring the elevator car to the 1st floor and lock the doors in the open position. C. Phase II recall: Any elevator lobby smoke detector located on the 1st floor shall initiate recall which will bring the elevator car to the 2nd floor and lock the doors in the open position. D.• Elevator Warning Signal: Actuation of any elevator machine room smoke detector or elevator hoistway detector shall also initiate the elevator warning signal to alert emergency personnel that the elevators are not safe for use as required in NFPA 72 (2007 edition) Chapter 6.16.3.12.3 P" Shunt —Trip Heat Detectors: Heat Detectors dedicated for Elevator Shunt shall be connected where required and activate a control shunt to disconnect the elevator power upon activation. The shunt power source shall be monitored by the Fire All: q Control Panel as required in NFPA 72. ELEVATOR RECALL WIRING DIAGRAM (INTELLIGENT SYSTEM. Elevator Machine Room, & Lobby Heat Detectors, Smoke Detectors, connected to activate Fire Fighter's Service Recall FAI SEQUENCE OF OPERATION: SMOKE DETECTOR Activation of Smoke Detector shall initiate the following functions: — Generate an audible signal at the Fire Alarm Control Panel — Generate an audible signal simultaneously on all areas of the building by means of Horns devices. Generate a visual alarm signal simultaneously on all areas of the building by the use of Strobe devices or combination Horn /Strobe notification device. — Indicate the location of the Smoke Detector by displaying the alarmed device and its location on the FACP. — Transmits a Fire Alarm Signal to the designated U.L.
