Before starting tree protection and trimming, meet with representative of authorities having jurisdiction, Owner, Landscape Architect, consultants, and other concerned entities. Review tree protection and trimming procedures and responsibilities. Notify participants at least three (3) working days before convening conference. 2. Tree(s) shall be pruned using ANSI A300 "Trees, Shrubs, and Other Woody Plant Maintenance - Standard Practices," unless more stringent requirements are warranted. Additional concerns should be brought up during the on -site meeting. 3. Temporary fencing shall be installed outside of the drip line of trees to protect remaining vegetation from construction damage. Temporary orange copolymer fence similar to Tensar BX -2050 safety grid, 4'foot wide to be utilized. 4. Protect tree root systems from damage due to noxious materials caused by runoff or spillage while mixing, placing, washing, or storing construction materials. 5. Do not store construction materials, debris, or excavated material within the drip line of remaining tree(s). Do not permit vehicles or foot traffic within the drip line; prevent soil compaction over root systems. S.W. 71st STREET 6. Do not excavate within drip line of tree(s). If excavation for new construction is required within drip line of tree(s), hand clear and excavate to minimize damage to root systems. Use narrow -tine spading forks and comb soil to expose roots. 7. Redirect roots in backfill areas where possible. If encountering large, main lateral roots, expose roots beyond excavation limits as required to bend and relocate them without breaking. If encountered immediately adjacent to location of new construction and relocation is not practical, cut roots approximately three (3) inches back from new construction. Do not allow exposed roots to dry out before placing permanent backfill. Provide temporary earth cover or pack with peat moss and wrap with burlap. Water and maintain in a moist condition. 8. Where utility trenches are required within drip line of trees, tunnel under or around roots by drilling, auger boring, pipe jacking, or digging by hand. Do not cut main lateral roots or taproots if root pruning is necessary. Cut only smaller roots that interfere with installation of utilities. Cut roots with sharp pruning instruments, do not break or chop. 9. Prune remaining tree(s) affected by temporary and new construction to compensate for root loss caused by damaging cutting root system. Provide subsequent maintenance curing Contract period as recommended by certified arborist. TREES AND PALMS - REMAIN/REMOVAL SCHEDULE TREE # SYMBOL BOTANICAL NAME COMMON NAME H t. S r.
