1. DESCRIPTION
Viking Micrornab& and Mlcromaticl[P� Standard Response Pendent Sprinklers
are small, thermosensitive, glass-bulb spray sprinklers available in several differ- MEE==
ent finishes, temperature ratings, and K-Factors to meet design requirements. The
special Polyester, Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and Electroless Nickel PTFE
(ENT) coatings can be used In decorative applications where colors are desired. In
addition, these coatings have been investigated for installation in corrosive atmos-
pheres and are listedlapproved as corrosion resistant as indicated in the Approval
Charts. (Note: FM Global approved the ENT coating as corrosion resistant FM Xi
Global has no approval classification for PTFE and Polyester coatings as corrosion
resistant)
Viking standard response sprinklers may be ordered and/or used as open sprinklers
(glass bulb and pip cap assembly removed) on deluge systems- Refer to Ordering

24.2.1.1 - UNLESS PERMITTED BY 24.2.1.2 THROUGH 24.2.1.6, ALL PIPING AND ATTACHED
APPURTENANCES SUBJECTED TO SYSTEM WORKING PRESSURE SHALL BE HYDROSTATICALLY
TESTED AT 200 PSI (13.8 BAR) AND SHALL MAINTAIN THAT PRESSURE WITHOUT LOSS FOR 2
HOURS.
24.2.1.2 PORTIONS OF SYSTEMS NORMALLY SUBJECTED TO SYSTEM WORKING PRESSURES IN
EXCESS OF 150 PSI (10.4 BAR) SHALL BE TESTED AS DESCRIBED IN 24.2.2.1 AT A PRESSURE OF
50 PSI (3.5 BAR) IN EXCESS OF SYSTEM WORKING PRESSURE.
24.2.1.3 WHERE COLD WEATHER WILL NOT PERMIT TESTING WITH WATER, AN INTERIM AIR
TEST SHALL BE PERMITTED TO BE CONDUCTED AS DESCRIBED IN 24.2.3.
24.2.1.4 MODIFICATIONS AFFECTING 20 OR FEWER SPRINKLERS SHALL NOT REQUIRE TESTING
IN EXCESS OF SYSTEM WORKING PRESSURE.
24.2.1.5 WHERE ADDITION OR MODIFICATION IS MADE TO AN EXISTING SYSTEM AFFECTING
MORE THAN 20 SPRINKLERS, THE NEW PORTION SHALL BE ISOLATED AND TESTED AT NOT
LESS THAN 200 PSI (13.8 BAR) FOR 2 HOURS.
24.2.1.6 MODIFICATIONS THAT CANNOT BE ISOLATED, SUCH AS RELOCATED DROPS, SHALL
NOT REQUIRE TESTING IN EXCESS OF SYSTEM WORKING PRESSURE.
2009 FLORIDA STATUTES/ CHAPTER 6331 FIRE PREVENTION AND CONTROL
PERSONS CERTIFIED AS A CONTRACTOR 1, CONTRACTOR 11, OR CONTRACTOR IV UNDER THIS
CHAPTER MAY DESIGN FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS OF 49 OR FEWER SPRINKLERS, AND MAY
DESIGN THE ALTERATION OF AN EXISTING FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM IF THE ALTERATION
CONSISTS OF THE RELOCATION, ADDITION, OR DELETION OF NOT MORE THAN 49 SPRINKLERS,
NOTWITHSTANDING THE SIZE OF THE EXISTING FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM.
CONTRACTOR-DEVELOPED PLANS MAY NOT BE REQUIRED BY ANY LOCAL PERMITTING
AUTHORITY TO BE SEALED BY A REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER.
SCOPE OF WORK:
EXISTING TENANT AREAS TO BE RENOVATED IN A FULLY PROTECTED
BUILDING.
RELOCATE AND ADD FIRE SPRINKLER HEADS AS SHOWN ON PLANS TO
ACCOMMODATE CHANGES.
