ELEVATOR RECALL- SEOUENCE OF OPERATION A- Smoke detectors in elevator lobbies, shaft and or elevator machine room shall: 1- Initiate an alarm condition in the building dor evacuation purposes. 2- Initiate the recall of the elevator cars as follows in accordance with NFPA 72 (2008 edition), chapter 6.16.3 B- Phase I recall: Any elevator lobby smoke detector located on the floors 2 and above and /or any smoke detector in the elevator machine or elevator shaft shall initiate phase I recall which will bring the elevator car to the 1st floor and lock the doors in the open position. C- Phase II recall: Any elevator lobby smoke detector located on the 1st floor shall initiate recall which will bring the elevator car to the 2nd floor and lock the doors in the open position. D- Elevator warning lights: Actuation of any elevator machine room smoke detector or elevator smoke detector shall also initiate the elevator warning lights to alert emergency personnel that the elevators are not safe for use as required in NFPA 72 (2008 edition) Chapter 6.16.3.12.3 E- Shunt -Trip heat detectors: Heat detectors dedicated for elevator shunt shall be connected where required and activate a control shunt to disconnect the elevator power upon activation. The shunt power source shall be monitored by the fire alarm control panel as required in NFPA 72 (2008 edition) Chapter 6.16.4.4 System No. C -AJ -1149 F Rating - 2 Hr T Rating - 0 Hr L Rating At Ambient - Less Than 1 CFM /sq ft L Rating At 400 F - 4 CFM /sq ft A 2 4 4 A 3 1 SECTION A -A 1. Floor or wall Assembly - Min 4-1/2 in. thick reinforced lightweight or normal weight (100 -150 pcf) concrete. Wall may also be constructed of any UL Classified Concrete Blocks s. Max dam of opening is 12 in. See Concrete Blacks (CAM category in the Fire Resistance Directory for names of manufacturers. 2. Through Penetrants - One metallic pipe, conduit or tubing to be installed within the firestop system. Pipe, conduit or tubing to be rigidly supported on both sides of floor or wall assembly. The annular space shall be 0 in• (point contact) to max 1 -1/4 in. The following types and saes of metallk: pipes, conduits or tubing may be used: A Steel Pipe - Nom 10 in. dam (or smaller) Schedule 10 (or heavier) steel pipe. B. Conduit - Nom 4 in. d'am (or smaller) steel electrical metalik; tubing or steel conduit. C. Copper Tubing - Nom 4 in. dam (or smaller) Type L (or heavier) copper tubing. D. Copper Pipe - Nom 4 in. dam (or smaller) Regular (or heavier) copper pipe. 3. Packing Material - Min 3 in. thicfaiess of min 4 pcf mineral wool bait insulation for nom 4 in. dam (and smaller) pipes, conducts or tubings and a min 4 in. thickness of min 4 pcf mineral wool bolt insulation for pipe greater than nom 4 in. dam, firmly pocked into opening as a permanent form. Pocking material to be recessed from top surface of floor or from both surfaces of wall as required to accommodate the required thickness of fill material. 4. Fill, Void or Cavity Material• - Sealant - Min 1/2 in. thickness of fill material applied within the annulus, flush with the top surface of floor or both surfaces of wall. At the point of contact location between pipe and concrete, a min 1/2 in, d'am bead of fop material shall be applied at the concrete /pipe interface on the top surface of floor and on both surfaces of wall. SEQUENCE OF OPERATION. 1. - ACTIVATION OF ANY INITIALING ALARM (MANUAL STATION, SMOKE DETECTORS, ADN HEAT DETECTORS) SHALL DO THE FOLLOWING: A. - MAIN FACP SHALL INDICATE THE DEVICE IN ALARM OR THE ZONE IN ALARM. _ - - - B. - RADIO TRANSMITTER SHALL BE SENT A SIGNAL TO A LISTED REMOTE STATION AND THIS SHALL BE CONNECTED = TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT C. - ACTIVATION OF ALL AUDIBLE AND VISUAL DEVICES THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING. AUDIBLE DEVICES SHALL BE TEMPORAL PATTERN. AUDIBLE CIRCUITS SHALL BE SILENCEABLE. D. - A RED LIGHT AT THE MAIN FACP SHALL INDICATE THAT THE SYSTEM IS IN ALARM. 2. - THE ALARM IS FROM AN AUTOMATIC DEVICE (SMOKE DETECTOR, HEAT DETECTOR) IN ADDITION TO ABOVE, ALL AHU (WITH MORE THAN 2000 CFM) SHALL SHUTDOWN. 3. - ALL INITIAING DEVICES SHALL BE SUPERVISED, AND ANY OFF NORMAL CONDITION SHALL BE INDICATED AT THE MAIN FACP ALL OUTPUT CIRCUITS SHALL BE SUPERVISED FOR OPEN OR SHORT CONDITION AND ANY OFF NORMAL CONDITION SHALL BE INDICATED AT THE MAIN FACP. OFF NORMAL CONDITION SHALL BE INDICATED WITH AN AMBER LIGHT AND /OR BUZZER. BUZZER COULD BE SILENCEABLE FROM THE MAIN FACP. BUZZER SHALL RESOUND IF ANY NEW TROUBLE CONDITION ARISES. 4. - GROUND FAULT CONDITION ON ANY WIRE OR DEVICE SHALL INDICATE AT THE MAIN FACP, WITH A MESSAGE AND /OR AMBER LIGHT INDICATING GROUND FAULT CONDITION. 5. - BATTERIES LEAD OR BATTERIES WITH TROUBLE SHALL BE SUPERVISED AND ANY OFF NORMAL CONDITION SHALL INDICATE AT THE MAIN FACP 6. - ANY OFF NORMAL CONDITION SHALL BE INDICATED AT THE MAIN FACP, AND SHALL BE SENT TO A LISTED REMOTE STATION SERVICE. THIS INCLUDE ALARM, SUPERVISORY, MONITOR, AND TROUBLE. 7. - ACTIVATION OF ANY SUPERVISORY DEVICES SHALL INDICATE AT THE MAIN FACP, SUPERVISORY LIGHT AND BUZZER SHALL BE ACTIVATED AND SHALL BE SEND A SUPERVISORY SIGNAL TO A LISTED REMOTE STATION. BUZZER COULD BE SILENCEABLE FROM MAIN FACP, ANY NEW SUPERVISORY SIGNAL SHALL RESOUND THE BUZZER.
