11-864-01091 C/U AT SECOUND FLOOR PARKING GARAGE PLAN SCALE: 1/4" = V -0" FIRE ALARM SPECIFICATIONS 1.– Contractor shall supply to building Department as part of Fire Alarm Permit, Updated shop fire alarm shop drawings reflecting added devices Jc Battery Calculations. The contractor shall be responsible to supply shop drawings Signed and sealed by a Professional Engineer if requested by Fire Plan reviewer. 2.– All Fire Alarm System components shall be new and reflect UL listing for fire service use. 3.– The installation of the Fire Alarm System shall also comply with the NFPA -70 National Electrical code (NEC) 2008 edition and the Florida Accessibility Code For Building Construction 94 edition. The installation shall also comply with NFPA -101 and NFPA -72. 4.– The Fire Alarm System shall consist of an Automatic Fire Detec- tion and Notification System. 5.– All Fire Alarm equipment for this project shall be rated "POWER LIMITED " 6.– The Fire Alarm Control Panel shall have standby battery backup as per NFPA 72, providing battery power capacity for entire system to operate for 24 hours in normal mode and then, at the end of the period, for 5 minutes in the emergency mode. 7.– Cable size shall comply with article 760 -71 and the cable insta- llation shall comply with the separation and use of conductors and cables as specified in articles 760 -54 and 760 -61 of the National Electrical Code. 8.– Building wiring shall specifically conform with the National Electri- cal Code article 760 part C for Power – Limited Fire Protection Signal Circuits with emphasis on article 760 -52(b) on Power Li- mited Wiring Methods and Materials. S.– MINIMUM CABLE SIZE: A. –# 16 AWG Copper (2 –# 16 FPLP) for : Smoke Detectors, Duct Detectors and Pull Stations. B. –# 14 AWG Copper (2--# 14 FPLP) for: Strobes and Horn no- tification devices. 10.– All new wiring installed in ducts, plenums and other spaces used for environmental air shall be type FPLP, as per NEC ( National Electrical Code) article 760 -61. 11.– Alarm notification devices shall be audible and /or visual and shall be done via Horn and Strobe devices. Strobes shall be clear xe- non type, with intensity of 75 candelas as per Article 4.28 (1) through (5) of the ADA guidelines of July 26, 1992 and as per article 4.28.2 is 4.28.3 of the Florida Accessibility Code for Buil- ding Construction. 12.– Strobe and Horn devices shall be placed 80" (6 * -8 ") above the highest floor level within the space or 6- below the ceiling whichever is lower as per ADA guidelines and article 4.28 (6) of the Florida Accessibility Cade for Building Construction. 13.– The distance from any place to a notification device shall not ex- ceed 50' as per article 4.28 (7) and (8) of the Florida Accesibi- lity Code for Building Construction. 14.– Pull Stations shall be installed at 48" AFF as per article 4.2.5 of the Florida Accessibility Code for Building Construction. 15.– The location of the audible devices has been designed as to be effectively heard 15 dB above ambient noise level obtained under normal condition of occupancy as NFPA 72. 16.– Activation of the Duct detector in the air handling unit (AHU) shall cause the automatic shut –down of that AHU. 17.– This design was based on calculations over a set of plans pro- vided to the design architect. If the post installation on –site tests conducted by the authority having jurisdiction determines that, be- cause unforeseeable conditions or changes in field parameters, the audible alarm level falls below the required level in specific areas, specific areas, the number of audible strobe /horns shall be in- creased to comply with the requirements and to the satisfaction of the authority having jurisdiction.
