1. THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM IS DESIGNED FOR NEW BUILDING AT 8575 NW 186TH ST MIAMI
FL 33105 . IT IS A SCHEMATIC DESIGN AND THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A COMPLETE
DESIGN AS REQUIRED AND SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS TO APPROVE FOR INSTALLATION.
2. ALL EQUIPMENT SHALL BE NEW AND U.L. LISTED.
3. THE DESIGN INSTALLATION OF THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM SHALL ALSO COMPLY WITH THE
NFPA -10 NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE (NEC) AND THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE (FBC) 11 -4283
V2001 EDITION. THE INSTALLATION SHALL ALSO COMPLY WITH NFPA -101 AND NFPA -72.
4. ALL WIRING TO CONFORM TO NFPA -70 ARTICLE 760.
5. ALL FIRE PENETRATIONS SHALL BE SEALED WITH U.L. APPROVED FIRE STOP MATERIALS.
(SEE FIRE PENETRATION DETAIL).
6. MANUAL STATIONS TO BE INSTALLED AT 48' AFF /NOTIFICATION DEVICES AT 80' AFF FROM
FLOOR TO BOTTOM OF APPLIANCES.
7. FIRE IAAARM SYSTEM SHALL BE SILENT KNIGHT (PANEL INTELLKNIGHT 5700) (OR
EQUIVALENT).
8. FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT TO BE CLASS "B" FOR INITIATION AND CLASS "B" STYLE 4 FOR
NOTIFICATION REPORTS.
9. ALL FIRE ALRM EQUIPMENT FOR THIS PROJECT SHALL RATED "POWER LIMITED ".
10. FIRE ALAM PANEL (SEE CONTRACTOR SHOP DRAWINGS).
11. SECURITY SYSTEM BY OTHER SHALL BE TIED INTO F/A AND SHALL OPEN UPON ALARM
OR LOSS OF PRIMARY POWER. (IF APPLICABLE).
12. FIRE ALARM IS PROVIDED WITH 24 HOURS STANDBY AND 5 MINUTES IN ALARM BATTERY.
13. FACP TO BE ON DEDICATED CIRCUIT 120 V, AND MARKED RED FIRE ALARM.
14. ALL CONTROL RELAY TO BE WITHIN 3 FEET OF DEVICE BEING CONTROLLED.
15. MINIMUM CONDUIT SIZES 1/2" WITH 40 % %% FILL AS PER NEC 70.
16. ALL NOTIFICATION APPLIANCES TO ACTIVATE UPON ALARM.
17. SYSTEM TO BE REMOTE ALARM TYPE.
18. SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO COMPLY WITH NFPA 101 CHAPTER 31 EXISTING APARTMENT
BUILDING OCCUPANCY.
19. FACP. IS LOCATED AT MAIN ENTRANCE, THIS BUILDING HAS NOT REMOTE ANNUNCIATOR.
20. THE SYSTEM SHALL HAVE BATTERY BACK -UP FOR 24 HOURS IN THE SUPERVISORY
MODE AND 5 MINUTES MINIMUM IN ALARM.
21 F.A. SYSTEM TO BE PROVIDED WITH EMERGENCY FORCES NOTIFICATION
NFPA 101 - 16.3.4.4 AND 9.6.4
1. ACTIVATION OF ANY MANUAL INITIATION DEVICE WITHIN THE SYSTEM SHALL CAUSE THE
FOLLOWING ACTIONS AND INDICATIONS:
A) ACTIVATE THE NOTIFICATION CIRCUITS WITH THE EVACUATION TONE AND THE VISUAL
SIGNALS (BUILDING AUDIBLE AND VISUAL NOTIFICATION).
B) ACTIVATE THE ALARM LIGHT AT ANNUNCIATOR, IF ANY, AND NOTIFY ALARM TO REMOTE
U.L. STATION (CONTINUOSLY ATTENDED CENTRAL STATION)
C) DISPLAY A CUSTOM MESSAGE DESCRIBING THE LOCATION, TIME, AND DATE OF THE DEVICE
INITIATING THE EVENT (IDENTIFICATION),
D) SHUT DOWN ALL AIR CONDITIONING UNITS WITHIN THE PROTECTED SPACE, IF ANY.
2. ACTIVATION OF ANY AUTOMATIC FIRE DETECTION DEVICE WITHIN THE SYSTEM SHALL CAUSE
THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS AND INDICATIONS:
A) ACTIVATE THE NOTIFICATION CIRCUITS WITH THE EVACUATION TONE AND THE VISUAL
SIGNALS (BUILDING AUDIBLE AND VISUAL NOTIFICATION).
B) ACTIVATE THE ALARM LIGHT AT ANNUNCIATOR, IF ANY, AND NOTIFY ALARM TO REMOTE

ACTIONS AND INDICATIONS:
A) DISPLAY A CUSTOM MESSAGE DESCRIBING THE DEVICE IN ALARM, TIME, AND DATE AT THE
FACP AND THE ALARM ANNUNCIATOR, IF ANY (IDENTIFICATION).
B) ACTIVATE THE CORRESPONDING ALARM LIGHT AND SOUNDER IN A DISTINCTIVE MODE AT
THE FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANEL AND ANNUNCIATORS, IF ANY.
C) SOUND HORN /STROBE IN A DISTINCTIVE MODE WITHIN THE PROTECTED SPACE.
D) NOTIFY SECOND ALARM TO REMOTE U.L. STATION (CONTINUOSLY ATTENDED CENTRAL
STATION).
4. ACTIVATION OF ANY SUPERVISORY DEVICE WITHIN THE SYSTEM SHALL CAUSE THE
FOLLOWING ACTIONS AND INDICATIONS:
A) ACTIVATE THE SUPERVISORY LIGHT AND SOUNDER AT THE FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANEL

B) DISPLAY A CUSTOM MESSAGE DESCRIBING THE LOCATION, TIME, AND DATE OF THE DEVICE
INITIATING THE EVENT (IDENTIFICATION).
C) NOTIFY TO U.L. CENTRAL STATION OF THE SUPERVISORY CONDITION. PANEL AND
ANNUNCIATORS, IF ANY.
5. ACTIVATION OF ANY TROUBLE SIGNAL WITHIN THE SYSTEM SHALL CAUSE THE DEVICE
INITIATING THE EVENT (IDENTIFICATION). FOLLOWING ACTIONS AND INDICATIONS:
A) ACTIVATE THE TROUBLE LIGHT AND SOUNDER AT THE FIRE ALARM CONTROL
B) DISPLAY A CUSTOM MESSAGE DESCRIBING THE LOCATION, TIME, AND DATE OF THE
C) NOTIFY TO U.L. CENTRAL STATION OF TROUBLE CONDITION.

any UL Classified Concrete Blocks •. Max diam of opening is 12 in.

2. Through Penetrants - One metallic pipe, conduit or tubing to be installed
within the firestop system. Pipe, conduit or tubing to be rigidly supported
on both sides of floor or wall assembly. The annular space shall be 0 in.
(point contact) to max 1 -1/4 in. The following types and sizes of metallic
pipes, conduits or tubing may be used:
A Steel Pipe - Nom 10 in. diam (or smaller) Schedule 10 (or heavier)
steel pipe.
B. Conduit - Nom 4 in. diam (or smaller) steel electrical metallic tubing
or steel conduit.
C. Copper Tubing - Nom 4 in. diam (or smaller) Type L (or heavier)
copper tubing.
D. Copper Pipe - Nom 4 in. diam (or smaller) Regular (or heavier) copper
pipe.
3. PoWng Mlaterid - Min 3 in. thickness of min 4 pcf mineral wool, butt
insulation for nom 4 in. diam (and smaller) pipes, conduits or tubings and
a min 4 in. thickness of min 4 pcf mineral wool butt insulation for pipe
greater than nom 4 in. diam, firmly packed into opening as a permanent
form. Packing material to be recessed from top surface of floor or from
both surfaces of wall as required to accommodate the required thickness
of fill material.
4. Fill, Void or Cavity MaoWml* - Seakmt - Min 1/2 in. thickness of fill
material applied within the annulus, flush with the top surface of floor or
both surfaces of wall. At the point of contact location between pipe and
concrete, a min 1/2 in. diam bead of fill material shall be applied at the
concrete /pipe interface on the top surface of floor and on both surfaces
of wall.
