A Resolution re-appointing Kate Reilley to serve on the Pension Board foran
unexpired term ending October 1,2016.
WHEREAS,the Mayor and Commission recognize the important contributions made by
those whoserveonthe various City boards and committees and wish to appoint afull
complement toeach of theactiveboardsandcommittees;and
WHEREAS,Ms.Reilleywas re-appointed totheBoardon September 16,2014,andshe
submitted her resignation back in October of thisyearduetoa perceived conflict of interest with
her job;and
WHEREAS,Ms.Reilley has now resolved her perceived conflict and wishes tobere
appointed to the Pension Board;and
WHEREAS,theCity Commission desiresto re-appoint Kate Reilley tothe Pension
Board toserveforthe unexpired termfromwhichshe previously resigned,ending October 1,
2016 or until removed or until a successor isduly appointed and qualified;and
WHEREAS,commencing with appointments made after January 1,2009,Sec.2-22
"Term Limits"of theCode of Ordinances provides that,appointees are limited totwo(2)
consecutive two-year terms of membership onaspecific commission,board,or committee.After
serving a maximum of two(2)consecutive year terms,an appointee shall not be reappointed to
thesame commission,board or committee unlessatleastoneyearhas elapsed between theterm
limited position andthe effective date of commencement of the proposed appointment fora new
term;and\
WHEREAS,Sec.2-22 "Term Limits"of the Code of Ordinances,as amended by
OrdinanceNo.06-14-2184,datedApril15,2014,providesthattheappointer,orhisorher
successorinoffice,mayextendthetermlimits of hisorher appointment with theadviceand
consent of a majority of theCity Commission;and
WHEREAS,pursuant toSec.2-22 "Term Limits"of the Code of Ordinances,this will be
Ms.Reilley's third two-year term of thetwo(2)consecutiveyearterms,not including thepartial
term she held until her resignation in October of 2015;and
WHEREAS,Ms.Reilley was previously appointed andshewillhave served asa board
member of thePensionBoardforoverfourcontinuousyearswhenhercurrentproposed
appointment expires;and
WHEREAS,Mayor and Commission desiresto re-appoint Ms.Reilley toserveonthe
PensionBoardforatermthatexceedstheCity'stermlimitordinanceasanallowableexception.
Her appointment forthisnewtermwillexpireOctober1,2016,orunless removed oruntila
successor is duly appointed and-qualified.

NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,THAT:
Section 1.TheCity Commission hereby re-appoints Ms.Reilley toserveonthe
PensionBoardforthe unexpired term of her previousappointment thatwillendonOctober1,
2016 oruntil removed or until a successor isduly appointed and qualified.
Section 2.This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
