AResolutionauthorizing the CityManager to expend an amount not to exceed $24,300 to
Big Ron's Tree Service,LLC for the removal of Australian pines at city parks.
WHEREAS,the City'sParksandRecreation Department desires to remove a total of eighteen
(18)Australian pines located at Dante FascellPark,FuchsParkand South MiamiPark;and
WHEREAS,the Florida Department of Environmental Protection prohibits the possession,
collection,transportation,cultivation,and importation of these invaders;moreover,Australian pines are
on the Category I listof the most invasive plants according to the FloridaExotic Pest PlantCouncil;and
WHEREAS,competitive proposals were sought from four (4)different sources ofsupply;Big
Ron's Tree Service,LLC was the lowest and most responsive vendor;and
NOW,THEREFORE,BEITRESOLVEDBYTHE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OFTHECITYOF
SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1.TheCity Manager is authorized toexpendan amount notto exceed $24,300to Big
Ron's Tree Service,LLC.The total expenditure shallbe charged to the Parks Landscape Budget,
Contractual Services,account number 001-1750-519-3450,which has a balance of $89,565 before this
request was made.A copy of proposals are attached.
Section 2.Severability.If any section clause,sentence,or phrase of this resolution is for any
reason heldinvalid or unconstitutional bya court of competent jurisdiction,the holding shall not affect
the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.
Section 3.Effective Date.This resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption by
vote of the City Commission.
