Florida,has considered the variances herein requested and made their recommen
dation of approval thereof;and
WHEREAS,Staff of the City of South Miami has considered the
variance herein requested and made their recommendation thereon;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY

MOTION:ByRonaldSmithtoapprovetherequestforvar
iance.Seconded by Joyce Price.
Discussion ensued regarding the gathering of signatures of the
neighboring properties.The Board expressed concern that those
owning property totherearofMs.Anderson werenotlistedbecause
theyareoutsidetheCity limits.DavidSmithstatedthatthe
County is notified but individual notices are sent only to residents
oftheCityofSouthMiamiwithinthethreehundredfootradiusof
the property requesting variance.TheBoardfeltthatthis should
not prejudice the applicant's request forvariancebutthatthe
Board should consider requiring the signatures rf,or a letter from,
propertyownersofabuttingproperties.
The Board noted that staff recommended denial.Mr.Prentiss felt
that there is no hardship in doing without a Florida room.
VOTE ON MOTION:Yes -5
No -1 (Prentiss)
