1. ALL EQUIPMENT AND COMPONENTS SHALL BE INSTALLED N STRICT COMPLIANCE WITH
MANUFACTURERS' RECOMMENDATIONS. CONSULT THE MANUFACTURERS' INSTALLATION
MANUALS FOR ALL WIRING DIAGRAMS, SCHEMATICS, PHYSICAL EQUIPMENT SIZES, ETC..
BEFORE BEGINNING THE SYSTEM INSTALLATION.
2. INSTALL FIRE ALARM SYSTEM PER NFPA 72 AND NFPA 70, ARTICLE 760. (2002)

4. PER NFPA 72 SECTION 2002 EDITION, CONNECTIONS TO THE LIGHT AND POWER
SERVICE SHALL BE ON A DEDICATED BRANCH CIRCUIT(S). THE CIRCUIT(S) AND
CONNECTIONS SHALL BE MECHANICALLY PROTECTED. CIRCUIT DISCONNECTING
MEANS SHALL HAVE A RED MARKING, SHALL BE ACCESSIBLE ONLY TO AUTHROIZED
PERSONNEL, AND SHALL BE IDENTIFIED AS 'FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT CONTROL'. THE
LOCATION OF THE CIRCUIT DISCONNECTING MEANS (CIRCUIT BREAKER) SHALL BE
PERMANENTLY IDENTIFIED AT THE FIRE ALARM CONTROL UNIT.
5. ALL FIRE ALARM EQUIPMENT SHALL BE UL LISTED AND COMPATIBLE FOR FIRE SERVICE.

7. PER NFPA 72 SECTION THE SECONDARY FIRE ALARM POWER
SUPPLY SHALL AUTOMATICALLY SUPPLY THE ENERGY TO THE SYSTEM WITHIN 30
SECONDS, AND WITHOUT LOSS SIGNALS, WHENEVER THE PRIMARY SUPPLY IS
INCAPABLE OF PROVIDING THE MINIMUM VOLTAGE REQUIRED FOR PROPER
OPERATION. THE SECONDARY (STANDBY) POWER SUPPLY SHALL SUPPLY ENERGY
TO THE SYSTEM N THE EVENT OF TOTAL FAILURE OF THE PRIMARY (MAIN) POWER
SUPPLY OR WHEN THE PRIMARY VOLTAGE DROPS TO A LEVEL INSUFFICIENT TO
MAINTAIN FUNCTIONALITY OR THE CONTROL EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
UNDER MAXIMUM QUIESCENT LOAD (SYSTEM FUNCTIONING IN A NON -ALARM
CONDITION). THE SECONDARY SUPPLY SHALL HAVE SUFFICIENT CAPACITY TO
OPERATE A PROTECTED PREMISES, CENTRAL STATION. OR PROPRIETARY SYSTEM
FOR 24 HOURS, OR AN AUXILIARY OR REMOTE STATION SYSTEM FOR 60 HOURS= AND,
AT THE END OF THAT PERIOD, SHALL BE CAPABLE OF OPERATING ALL ALARM
NOTIFICATION APPLIANCES USED FOR EVACUATION OR TO DIRECT AID TO THE
LOCATION OF AN EMERGENCY FOR 5 MINUTES. THE SECONDARY POWER SUPPLY
FOR EMERGENCY VOICE/ALARM COMMUNICATIONS SERVICE SHALL BE CAPABLE OF
OPERATING THE SYSTEM UNDER MAXIMUM QUIESCENT LOAD FOR 24 HOURS AND THEN
SHALL BE CAPABLE OF OPERATING THE SYSTEM DURING A FIRE OR OTHER EMERGENCY
CONDITION FOR A PERIOD OF 2 HOURS. FIFTEEN MINUTES OF EVACUATION ALARM
OPERATION AT MAXIMUM CONNECTED LOAD SHALL BE CONSIDERED THE EQUIVALENT

FROM CEILING.
12. STROBE LIGHTS SHALL BE MOUNTED 080A.F.F. TO BOTTOM OF LENS.
13. AUDIBLE AND VISUAL APPLIANCE LOCATIONS TO MEET NFPA 72.6 -3.6 -4 AND 6-5.
SYNCHRONIZE STROBES AS REQUIRED.
14. STROBE LIGHTS SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE ADA. UL STANDARD 1971.
STROBE INTENSITY AND FLASH RATE SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF UL 1971.
ALL STROBE LIGHTS SHALL BE 75 CANDELA.
15. PER NFPA 72 F.A.SPEAKERS SHALL HAVE A SOUND LEVEL AT LEAST
15 dBA ABOVE THE AVERAGE AMBIENT SOUND LEVEL OR 5 dBA ABOVE THE MAXIMUM
SOUND LEVEL HAVING A DURATION OF AT LEAST 60 SECONDS, WHICHEVER IS GREATER,
MEASURED 5 FT ABOVE THE FLOOR IN THE OCCUPIABLE AREA. THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED
TO CERTIFY THE dBA LEVEL WITH AN APPROVED dBA METER PRIOR TO THE ISSUANCE OF THE
CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY.
16. ACCESS CONTROL SHALL COMPLY WITH NFPA 72 'DOOR UNLOCKING DEVICES' ANY DEVICE
INTENDED TO ACTUATE THE LOCKING OR UNLOCKING OF EXITS SHALL BE CONNECTED TO THE
FIRE ALARM SYSTEM. ALL EXITS SHALL UNLOCK UPON RECEIPT OF ANY FIRE ALARM SIGNAL BY
MEANS OF THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM SERVING THE PROTECTED PREMISES.
ALL EXITS SHALL UNLOCK UPON LOSS OF THE PRIMARY POWER TO THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM. THE
SECONDARY POWER SUPPLY SHALL NOT BE UTILIZED TO MAINTAIN THESE DOORS IN THE LOCKED
CONDITION.
DELAYED EGRESS LOCKS SHALL COMPLY WITH NFPA 101 7.2.1.6.1. ANY DOOR WITH DELAYED EGRESS
LOCKS SHALL UNLOCK UPON ACTUATION OF THE FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM OR UPON THE ACTUATION OF
ANY HEAT DETECTOR OR ACTIVATION OF NOT MORE THAN TWO SMOKE DETECTORS CONNECTED TO
THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM. THE DOORS SHALL UNLOCK UPON LOSS OF POWER CONTROLLING THE LOCK
OR LOCKING MECHANISM.
17. UPON ACTIVATION OF ANY WATERFLOW SWITCH ALL HORNS AND STROBES WILL SOUND UNTIL SYSTEM
IS MANUALLY SILENCED. FIRE ALARM BELL AND STROBE OUTSIDE OF FIRE PUMP ROOM WILL SOUND
UNTIL WATER FLOW STOPS.
18. ALARM NOTIFICATION FOR THIS SYSTEM IS VOICE EVACUATION WITH STROBES.
19. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A SMOKE DETECTOR WITHIN 15' OF ALL FIRE ALARM
EQUIPMENT CONTROL PANELS (e.g... FACP. REMOTE ANNUNCIATORS, POWER
SUPPLIES AND TRANSPONDERS)
20- EVERY SYSTEM SHALL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION, WHICH SHALL BE DELIVERED TO
THE OWNER OR THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE UPON FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE SYSTEM:
